Cooper Standard Automotive is seeking a CAD Designer to create end items and component math data (3D/2D) under guidance from Program Engineers in a CAD environment. Responsibilities include creating 3D math data, 2D drawings, and assembly/component drawings aligned with customer and internal standards.

The role requires knowledge of automotive design, GD&T, and experience with NX, CATIA V5, SolidWorks, and Teamcenter OEM configuration. Travel may be required and MS Office proficiency is expected.

Formación

  • Two year CAD education required.
  • Typically has two plus years of experience.
  • Knowledge of CAD software NX, CATIA V5, SolidWorks and TeamCenter OEM configuration.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and its application for product lines.
  • Demonstrates ability to explain moderately complex information to others.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

The Designer is responsible for the creating end items and component math data (3D/2D) while receiving direction and guidance from the Program Engineers within the CAD environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Knowledgeable in automotive applications, assembly and component design (i.e. CAD Software, PLM Solutions), while still acquiring higher‐knowledge and skills.
  • Create and maintain 3D math data and 2D drawings as required for customer manufacturing and internal engineering standards.
  • Build knowledge in best practices, processes and customers through ongoing professional development.
  • Understand customer required standards/design guides and uses this understanding to accomplish strategic objectives.
  • Understand Cooper Standard product lines outside of main discipline.
  • Creation of assembly and component drawings while utilizing internal and external resources which conform to customer and company standards/design guidelines.
  • Assist engineers in the design of major vehicle systems, assemblies or components in compliance with performance, design costs, design for manufacturability and capabilities
  • Mentor and support new designers
  • Perform engineering design studies from OEM/Tier customer supplied vehicle environments, sketches, and models or verbal instructions
  • Technical interfaces with the customer, design, manufacturing plants, testing and suppliers as required
  • Estimate timing required to perform CAD related assignments and meet customer specified timing
  • Knowledge of automotive vehicle layouts and interfacing components
  • Ability to solve problems in typical situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment
  • May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description
  • Education and Qualifications:
  • Two year CAD education required
  • Typically has two plus years of experience
  • Knowledge of respective CAD software (i.e. NX, CATIA V5, SolidWorks and Team Center OEM configuration)
  • Knowledge of GD&T and application for specific product lines
  • Demonstrates selection of appropriate design solutions to meet the needs of the product
  • Ability to explain moderately complex information to others in a conscientious manner
  • Ability to provide solutions to various automotive component issues
  • Must show the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to perform in a fast‐paced working environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary
