OP Mobility in Mexico is seeking a Product Designer with 3–5 years of automotive design experience to lead design activities across development stages. You will create 3D models and drawings, interface with suppliers and customers, and ensure manufacturability and adherence to global standards.

The role requires proficiency in CATIA/SolidWorks, PLM familiarity, and occasional travel. A design background in plastics and tooling is highly valued.

Formación

• Engineering degree in Industrial Design or Mechanical/Automotive fields.
• Fluent English required; automotive experience preferred.
• Experience with CAD/CAM and plastic part design is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Product design leadership across program stages from quotation to service.
• Conduct 3D modeling and create drawings using CAD data standards.
• Interface with suppliers, model shops and customers on design issues.
• Consider manufacturing and assembly in design decisions.
• Release drawings/data to suppliers and customers per standards.
• Ensure designs meet OPmobility Global Product Standards.
• Support DFMEA, DVP&R, BOM and engineering timelines as needed.
• Collaborate with Development groups to provide required technologies.

PRODUCT DESIGNER

MISSION

Responsible for the development and technical requirements of the design for assigned programs. Act as design lead contact for programs in different stages of the production (quotation, development, manufacturing, service). Work is performed in a fast-paced environment within tight time constraints.

RESPONSABILITIES

Responsibility 1: Product Design

• Activity 1.1 Conduct 3D modeling, design changes and create drawings using customer CAD system data banking standards.
• Activity 1.2 Acts as interface with suppliers, model shops and customer to ensure best possible design.
• Activity 1.3 Considers manufacturing and assembly concerns when designing.
• Activity 1.4 Attends meetings on design issues and update files and directories.
• Activity 1.5 Release drawings / math data to suppliers for the manufacture of tooling, prototypes, components and assembly aids associated with the program.
• Activity 1.6 Release drawings / math data to the customer per customer’s standards.
• Activity 1.7 Responsible to ensure design meets OPmobility Global Product Standards

Responsibility 2: Product Development

• Activity 2.1 Supports PAE for DFMEA, DVP&R, BOM and engineering timeline including action plans for issue resolution.
• Activity 2.2 Supports PAE for activities related to prototype parts
• Activity 2.3 Supports PAE to interface with other Development groups (Components, Materials, Process and Systems) to ensure the provision of the technologies required to support the program.
• Activity 2.4 Supports PAE for to make recommendations for product or test improvements to the program team to continuously drive towards lower cost and increased quality within the required timing.

PROFILE

Personal Background

• Engineering degree: Industrial Design preferable. Mechanical, Automotive, Industrial engineering as alternative.
• Must prove fluent English
• Experience in automotive industry preferable
• Travel might be required – less than 5% (Domestic and International)

Job Technical skills

• Microsoft Office tools
• Overall 3-5 years experience in similar position
  • Experience in GD&T, BOM.
  • Experience in product design required (Plastics blow molding, preferable)
  • Experience in Catia - CAD program for automotive/manufacturing design is required (Solidworks, CREO, NX, preferable)
  • Experienced in Safety Components or Fuel Systems components, preferable
  • Experience in PLM programs (SAP, TeamCenter), preferable.
