Job summary

Ford is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with an automotive focus to join our team in Mexico. You will support engineering activities across programs, ensuring on-time delivery and compliance with customer and Ford requirements.

You will manage BOMs, engineering changes, and drive parts validation through prototypes and production builds. The role requires strong planning, problem-solving, and communication skills, with proficiency in MS Office and English (C1).

Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering degree with an automotive focus or in your final year of studies.
  • Coursework in fluid mechanics and materials mechanics.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering activities so our programs deliver on time and follow Ford's development process.
  • Help validate parts against customer, corporate and local requirements and engineering specifications.
  • Manage and audit the Bill of Materials (BOM) and engineering change processes for prototype and production builds.
  • Identify validation, durability and functional tests each part needs and follow up on prototypes at part level.
  • Participate in Technical Design Reviews and support vehicle quality and validation tests.

What you will do
  • Support engineering activities so our programs deliver on time. You will use Ford's global product development process to build and follow plans.
  • Help the responsible engineer validate parts against customer, corporate and local requirements, as well as engineering and system design specifications and manufacturing and assembly needs.
  • Manage and audit the Bill of Materials (BOM) and engineering change processes for prototype and production builds. You will stay aware of worldwide engineering changes.
  • Identify the validation, durability and functional tests each part needs, and follow up on engineering prototypes at part level.
  • Take part in Technical Design Reviews. You will apply problem-solving strategies and support vehicle quality and validation reviews and tests.
What you bring
  • Mechanical Engineering degree with an automotive focus, or in your final year of studies. You have completed coursework such as fluid mechanics and materials mechanics.
  • Advanced English (C1), including technical engineering vocabulary.
  • Solid understanding of how internal combustion engines work, and general automotive knowledge.
  • Strong planning, follow-up and project management skills, and comfort with project management tools.
  • A mechanical and mathematical mindset, and a data-driven approach to solving complex problems.
  • Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills, and Microsoft Office proficiency.
It's a plus if you have
  • Experience with CATIA V5, 3DEXPERIENCE or CATIA V6.
  • Familiarity with Engine Air and Exhaust components, materials and manufacturing processes
