Rheem Manufacturing Company in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico is seeking a mechanical design engineer to design and develop new products and components, create 3D models and 2D drawings, and lead engineering projects through design changes. Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Physics, Electronic, Mechatronics Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years experience in appliance design and prototype testing.
• Strong English communication (written and verbal).
• Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and design development.
• Valid U.S. Visa required with no travel restrictions.

Responsabilidades

• Design and develop new products, components, and engineering solutions, including 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Lead engineering projects and manage design changes to meet quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product development and continuous product improvements.
• Coordinate product testing, validation activities, and certification requirements, including data analysis and technical reporting.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation such as DVP&R, DFMEA, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Support prototype builds and provide technical guidance to laboratory and testing personnel.
• Drive automation, cost reduction, system simplification, and energy efficiency initiatives.
• Develop or modify test equipment, instrumentation, hardware, and software to support product development.
• Manage laboratory equipment and test chambers, including maintenance, consumables, and supplier coordination.
• Promote compliance with quality, safety, and continuous improvement standards and methodologies.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Physics, Electronic, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience of 3 to 5 years of appliance design / demonstrable practical skills building and testing prototype units.
• Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
• Solid analytical, mathematical and problem/solving abilities.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and design development.
• Valid U.S. Visa required with no travel restrictions.

Preferred:

• Experience supporting product validation, testing, and engineering documentation.
• Knowledge of CSA, AHRI, ASHRAE, and UL standards related to HVAC and water heating products.
• Experience developing test plans, DVP&R, DFMEA, control plans, and implementing problem-solving methodologies.
• Proficiency in GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and engineering drawing interpretation.
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, water heaters, thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and power calculations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools such as Minitab, Excel, and MATLAB.
• Demonstrated ability to lead projects and coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
