Johnson Controls, Inc. is a global leader in smart, healthy, and sustainable building technologies. The design engineer will oversee and lead complex projects for chillers, driving high-quality design outputs and adherence to standards.

The role requires strong mechanical and electrical design skills, proficiency with Creo/AutoCAD/Windchill, and collaboration with Product Engineering. A Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience are expected, with English at least at B1 level.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of product development experience
  • Proficiency in PTC Creo Parametric and AutoCAD
  • Experience with PLM Windchill
  • ERP SAP experience
  • Strong mechanical and electrical design skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • English at an intermediate level (B1)

Responsabilidades

  • Provide design engineering and project oversight to ensure all deliverables are released on time and in full compliance with the design process.
  • Lead complex design of special options for current chillers.
  • Lead contracts planning and development of the design and supervise information from other designers.
  • Lead structured problem solving and drive teamwork.
  • Design electrical harness 3D models and routing, harness schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams, 3D mechanical models.
  • Verify design with simulation tools.
  • Interpret and create 2D engineering drawings.
  • Manage bills of materials.
  • Lead Product Agile Design Reviews, DFMEA, DFMA.
  • Interact with Contract and Product Engineering to understand system interactions and constraints.
  • Lead root cause analysis and document design issues.
  • Lead workshops and trainings to improve design guidelines and processes.
  • Develop and improve electrical harness routing guidelines and processes.
  • Ensure the design and information meet ASME codes and internal rules.
  • Share technical knowledge with less experienced team members.

What you will do:
  • Provides design engineering and project oversight to ensure all design deliverables are released on time and in full compliance with the product design development process and customer expectations.
  • Lead key and complex design of special options for current chillers.
How you will do it:
  • Lead complex contracts, planning and development of the design as well as the supervision of the information generated by other designers and drafters assigned to the contract.
  • Lead structured problem solving and drives positive teamwork.
  • Design of electrical harness 3D models and routing, electrical harness schematics, piping and instrumentation diagram, mechanical 3D models, piping, sheet metal, assemblies.
  • Verify design with simulation tools.
  • 2D Engineering drawings interpretation and creation
  • Bill of materials management
  • Lead Product Agile Design Reviews, Audits, DFMEA, DFMA.
  • Interact with Contract and Product Engineering to understand system interactions and constraints, provide guidance and feedback.
  • Lead root cause analysis, document and solve design issues.
  • Lead workshops, trainings, sessions to improve Design guidelines, processes and methodologies used in the Engineering design team.
  • Develop and improve electrical harness routing guidelines and processes.
  • Asure the de design and information meet the ASME code in accordance with the internal rules.
  • Exercises leadership by sharing technical and practical knowledge with less experienced team members.
What are we looking for:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, or related field)
  • Minimum 5 year of product development experience
  • PTC Creo Parametric and Autocad
  • PLM Windchill
  • ERP - SAP
  • Mechanical and Electrical Design
  • Microsoft Office
  • English Intermedium (B1)
Preferred:
  • HVAC or research and development experience.
  • ASME or research and development experience.
  • Experience in bills of material maintenance, engineering changes or super-user capabilities in unrelated modules.
  • Familiarity with HVAC Systems and electromechanical engineering design and test is helpful.
  • Knowledge of design core tools.
