Job summary

Praxis is seeking an experienced Network Engineer (Tier 2) to resolve service-impacting events and coordinate with Operations Management. You will mentor Tier 2 Engineers, interpret console messages, perform problem isolation, and assist with network troubleshooting.

The role requires hands-on work with routers, switches, WAN/LAN, and security tools; you will implement recovery procedures, monitor performance, and participate in capacity planning and change coordination with customers.

Qualifications

• Experience with IT infrastructure technologies and networks.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP addressing and routing protocols.
• Hands-on experience with network troubleshooting and change management processes.

Responsibilities

• Resolving service-impacting events/incidents.
• Escalating incidents to Operations Management/Directors.
• Engaging support of the CSIRT when necessary.
• Monitor ongoing operations and IT service infrastructure performance.
• Teach and mentor Tier 2 Network Engineers.
• Interpret console messages and perform required actions.
• Perform IT service problem isolation and determination.
• Respond to problems escalated by Service Desk Tier 1 & 2 Engineers.
• Initiate corrective action within scope of knowledge and authority.
• Assist with network troubleshooting.
• Develop network capacity plans.
• Implement network bypass/recovery/backup procedures as required.
• Maintain knowledge of technology used and future tech.
• Create criteria for acceptance of IT services; proactive monitoring.
• Validation of new IT services in IT environment.
• Acceptance/ coordination of new IT services in infrastructure.
• Use network diagnostic tools.
• Input to databases for problem and inventory control.
• Testing and maintenance activities as required.
• Serve as customer interface for scheduling network changes and Change Management coordination.
