Job summary

Global Payment Holding Company is seeking a Senior COBOL Developer to join the Mainframe Engineering & Payment Processing Technology Team in Mexico City. You will ensure stability, reliability, and performance of mission-critical payment systems powering millions of transactions daily.

You will own complex COBOL solutions, lead production incident resolution, and drive continuous improvement in batch processing, data integrity, and operational excellence across a 24x7 environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience developing, maintaining, and supporting COBOL applications within complex mainframe environments.
• Deep expertise in COBOL, JCL, batch processing, debugging, and production incident troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of IBM mainframe technologies including VSAM, DB2, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, CA-7 workload automation, and Endevor version control.
• Proven ability to own critical incidents and deliver reliable outcomes while protecting operations and customer experience.

What you'll bring

• 6+ years of experience developing, maintaining, and supporting COBOL applications within complex mainframe environments.
• Deep expertise in COBOL, Job Control Language (JCL), batch processing, debugging, and production incident troubleshooting with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
• Strong knowledge of IBM mainframe technologies including Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM), DB2 databases, Time Sharing Option/Interactive System Productivity Facility (TSO/ISPF), System Display and Search Facility (SDSF), CA-7 workload automation, and Endevor version control.
• Proven ability to take ownership of critical incidents, prioritize effectively under pressure, and deliver reliable outcomes while protecting business operations and customer experience.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to partner across technical and business teams, translate complex issues, and drive successful delivery.

It's a bonus if you have

• Experience supporting credit card processing, payments, banking, or broader financial services platforms.
• Hands‑on experience with Customer Information Control System (CICS) application development and production support.
• A continuous learning mindset with a track record of identifying process improvements, modernizing legacy environments, and sharing expertise with peers.
