The claims function supports this by providing expertise and partnership across different business areas, including Auto claims, which work with stakeholders to ensure cost-effective claim handling and excellent service.

About The Role

The primary purpose of this role is to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex claims by analyzing data and documentation according to policy provisions. Typical claims include policy cancellations due to non-pay and denial letters.

Your contribution at AIG

The employee will handle an average of 45 new claims and 135 outstanding claims monthly, based on staffing models.

Primary Responsibilities

• Utilize investigation and settlement techniques to achieve cost-effective and timely closure by reviewing documentation, policy provisions, and records.
• Contact relevant parties as necessary, including employers, claimants, and third parties like medical providers or auto repair centers.
• Use diary systems to resolve issues proactively and ensure timely processing.
• Provide timely service, meet all service level agreements, and respond to inquiries per company policies.
• Maintain accurate records, determine reserves within authority, identify subrogation and fraud opportunities, and manage key claims inquiries.
• Collaborate with managers and vendors to manage complex claims effectively and contribute to best practice procedures.
• Demonstrate technical claims competence and handle claims within authority limits.

Accountabilities

• Ensure timely, accurate, and customer-focused resolution of claims, minimizing indemnity exposure and legal expenses.
• Communicate key claims and portfolio messages to stakeholders.
• Maintain financial discipline through reserves and transactions, and interpret policies accurately.

What we are looking for

• Experience adjusting lower complexity claims.
• Effective prioritization and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Clear communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proficiency in computer use.
• Possession of or ability to acquire adjuster licenses as required by jurisdiction.
• Skills in desk management, phone etiquette, time management, and handling difficult customers.
• Basic knowledge of legal, regulatory, and procedural requirements.
• Experience following up on technical claims audits and improvement recommendations.
