Job summary

Luxoft in Querétaro is seeking an Automotive Lighting Optical Design Engineer to develop and optimize lighting systems including headlights, taillights, and light guides. You will define optical concepts, run photometric simulations, and ensure compliance with global automotive lighting regulations.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and global clients to translate specifications into capable designs, leveraging tools like LucidShape, SPEOS, ASAP, and CATIA V5.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in optical design for automotive lighting systems.
• Advanced proficiency with photometric simulation tools such as LucidShape, SPEOS or ASAP.
• CATIA V5 proficiency for optical surface integration with mechanical assemblies.
• Knowledge of automotive lighting regulations (ECE, FMVSS 108/ SAE).
• Experience with LED/laser projection systems and optical tolerance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Analyze customer specs to define optical design criteria and requirements.
• Define and evaluate optical technologies and concepts to meet performance targets.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to assess feasibility and integration into product design.
• Design and optimize optical surfaces including reflectors, collimators, lenses, and light guides.
• Perform photometric simulations using LucidShape, SPEOS or ASAP and validate results.
• Prepare technical justifications and recommendations to support design decisions.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electronic, and other engineering teams for proper integration.
• Support optical tolerance analysis and correlation between simulations and prototypes.
• Contribute to project plans, schedules, and quality requirements.
