Job summary

Yazaki North America, Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer - Product Development to advance the design and development of automotive electrical systems.

The role targets engineers with hands-on experience in electrical distribution or wire harness design and requires ownership from early design through validation and launch. The candidate will analyze requirements, create electrical designs, and collaborate with validation teams to ensure cost, weight and quality targets are met using 3D CAD tools

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics engineering.
• 4–6 years of automotive engineering experience.
• Experience with electrical system design concepts such as power distribution, grounding, circuit protection, wire sizing, schematics and topology.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (CATIA V5, AutoCAD, NX).
• Knowledge of problem-solving methodologies such as 5 Why, 8D or Six Sigma.

Responsibilities

• Analyze customer requirements and RFQ documentation to evaluate feasibility.
• Develop and document electrical system designs, including schematics, topology, and power distribution.
• Analyze vehicle/harness complexity and optimize architecture for cost, weight and quality.
• Perform circuit simulations and electrical calculations to support design decisions.
• Create and maintain schematics, topology, and engineering documentation.
• Use 3D CAD tools to create product data and models per customer requirements.
• Select components and develop assemblies meeting customer specs.
• Collaborate with validation teams to verify requirements through tests and surveys.
• Support root cause analysis and problem solving using 5 Why, 8D, or Six Sigma.
