SOGEFI Group is seeking an Automated Systems and Machine Safety Expert based at our Monterrey plant in Mexico. You will serve as the technical reference for automation, robotics, and safety, leading projects and supporting manufacturing improvements across the line.

You will coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Quality and Industrialization to resolve complex issues, audit equipment, and ensure compliance.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, or Robotics engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years in automated manufacturing; automotive exposure preferred.
• Experience leading automation projects and equipment integration.
• Machine safety training or certification is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Serve as the plant technical reference for automation, robotics and machine safety.
• Lead automation projects, prepare specifications, and oversee commissioning.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure safety compliance before production.
• Support continuous improvement and root-cause investigations.
• Provide training to Production, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.

Job Description

Serves as the plant technical reference for automated systems, robotics, and machine safety. Supports Production, Maintenance, Quality and Industrialization in resolving complex issues, ensuring equipment compliance, and improving manufacturing processes. Evaluates new equipment, conducts machine safety audits, and validates supplier solutions.

• Technical leadership: Acts as the plant expert for automation, robotics and manufacturing equipment; provides advanced troubleshooting support and promotes technical best practices across the site, in collaboration with the experts from the different sites.
• Machine safety: Audits existing and new equipment, leads risk assessments, defines safety requirements, and ensures compliance before production release.
• Projects and industrialization: Leads automation and system improvement projects; prepares specifications; participates in design reviews; oversees FAT, SAT, commissioning, and technical documentation.
• Quality and continuous improvement: Supports customer complaint investigations, roots cause analysis, corrective actions, and process improvement initiatives.
• Suppliers and RFQs: Reviews and approves equipment RFQs, assess supplier concepts, supports supplier selection, and confirms technical, safety, and functional compliance.
• Training: Trains Production, Maintenance, and Engineering teams and ensures effective knowledge transfer during equipment launches.

• Functional reporting: Plant Manager

Qualifications

• Languages:
  • Fluent English and Spanish, written and spoken.
  • French is an asset.
• Degree:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, or Robotics Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in an automated manufacturing environment; automotive industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in automation project management and equipment integration; machine safety training or certification is an asset.

Skills And Qualities

• Strong expertise in industrial mechanics, automation, robotics, and special-purpose machinery.
• Strong ability to lead, motivate, and take decisions.
• Proficiency in industrial robot programming, particularly Fanuc or equivalent, and knowledge of PLC programming.
• Ability to program, troubleshoot, and optimize machine vision systems and inspection cameras.
• Advanced knowledge of machine safety principles and standards; ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Lean Manufacturing and ergonomic principles.
