Cognizant in Mexico City is seeking an Engineer to lead decommissioning of legacy infrastructure. You will identify residual NAS shares, CPU allocations, and object stores, catalogue assets, and engage application owners for approvals.

Responsibilities include data analysis in Excel and internal tools, change management, cross‑team coordination, and reporting to senior leadership. A rigorous, proactive approach and learning agility are essential.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in CS, Math, Engineering, or related quantitative field.
• 3–5 years in infrastructure management or large enterprise environments.
• Unix/Linux shell scripting and Python proficiency.
• Familiarity with change management processes in regulated financial industries.
• Solid understanding of core infrastructure and related technologies.

Responsabilidades

Responsibilities Of The Engineer Include

• Infrastructure Identification & Cataloguing
• Resource Discovery: Identify and catalogue residual NAS file shares, CPU allocations, and object storage linked to decommissioned applications.
• Data Analysis: Analyse data in Excel and internal tools to identify decommissioning candidates and measure outcomes.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage application owners to notify them of remaining infrastructure and secure formal approval for deletion.
• Execution
• Change Management: Raise and manage Change Requests for approved decommissioning actions.
• Coordination: Work with Storage, Compute, and Platform teams to execute permanent infrastructure removal.
• Tracking & Reporting: Track progress, escalations, and blockers via Jira - maintain clean boards and accurate status at all times.
• Stakeholder Communication: Produce and distribute structured notifications, reports, and dashboards to stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Process Improvement & Automation
• Rigor & Follow-Through: A rigorous approach to operational excellence is required. Engineers must proactively follow up on outstanding approvals, escape delays per SLA with clear professional communication.
• Process Improvement: Continuously improve processes, templates, and automation to increase decommissioning throughput.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engineer will also need to work with cross-functional infrastructure and platform teams and must have an aptitude for learning new workflows and tooling as necessary.

• Education: Bachelor's or Masters in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience in infrastructure management, technology project delivery and/or enterprise-scale environments involving large number business critical applications.
• Languages: Unix/Linux Shell Scripting, Basic proficiency in Python (scripting, automation, data manipulation).
• Methodology: Familiarity with change management processes in regulated financial industries.
