Job summary

Cognizant is hiring an AI/AIOps Engineer to design, build, and productionize AI/ML and LLM systems. You will work on GenAI/LLM engineering including RAG, embeddings, and tool-driven automation with guardrails and human approvals.

The role requires hands-on production Python code, ML libraries, and strong troubleshooting across Linux, Java, and Python environments, with observability and RCA/AIOps tooling experience. This is a growth-focused position in a dynamic team.

Qualifications

• Production AI/ML experience in real user production systems.
• Experience with GenAI/LLM engineering including RAG and embeddings.
• Experience with agentic AI agents or multi-step automations and tooling guardrails.
• Defined evaluation sets and metrics to improve systems based on results.
• AIOps experience with time-series anomaly detection and alert-noise reduction.
• Proficient Python production code with tests and common ML libraries.
• Experience with Linux-based production troubleshooting including CPU/memory/disk/network, Java and Python.
• Familiarity with observability tools (Splunk, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace).
• Experience building RCA/AIOps tooling or contributing to related tooling.

We are looking for an AI/AIOps Engineer

Core requirements (all needed)

• Production AI ML around 3+ years designing building and supporting ML or LLM systems used by real users in production. POCs demos and coursework alone are not sufficient.
• GenAI/LLM engineering: RAG (chunking hybrid search re ranking) embeddings and vector search tool/function calling structured outputs and handling of incorrect or unsupported answers.
• Agentic AI agents or multi-step automations with LangGraph LangChain Semantic Kernel or similar including tools guardrails human approval and audit of actions.
• Evaluation defined evaluation sets and metrics measured accuracy or error rates and improved a system based on the results.
• AIOps / anomaly detection: time-series anomaly detection and alert-noise reduction on metrics logs or events.
• Python production code with tests (Pandas NumPy scikit learn PyTorch or TensorFlow where relevant).
• Production troubleshooting: live incidents on Linux (CPU memory disk network) Java (heap GC thread dumps) and Python.
• Observability tools Splunk (SPL dashboards alerts) plus one of Prometheus OpenTelemetry Dynatrace or similar.
• RCA/AIOps tooling has built or contributed significantly to RCA AIOps or incident-analysis tooling.
