Digitus_Group is seeking an EHS Officer to implement and enforce the site Environment Health and Safety program across data center operations, maintenance activities, and contractor works. The role administers PTW and LOTO, conducts risk assessments, and coordinates emergency preparedness to ensure compliance and safe operations.

The successful candidate will lead incident investigations, maintain audit readiness, and drive continuous safety improvements within a high-risk data center

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Safety, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in an EHS or HSE role.
  • Experience in critical facilities, construction, industrial facilities, or similarly high-risk environments is preferred.

  • Coordinate emergency-response arrangements and maintain readiness of emergency equipment.
  • Lead or support investigations of incidents, injuries, near misses, and unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions.

Job description

The Data Center EHS Officer is responsible for implementing and enforcing the site Environment Health and Safety program The role ensures that daily data center operations maintenance activities contractor works and emergency-response arrangements are conducted safely and in compliance with approved procedures and applicable requirements The EHS Officer administers the Permit to Work and Lockout Tagout systems manages site risk assessments monitors contractor safety coordinates emergency preparedness investigates incidents and maintains the facility in a state of continuous audit readiness

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and enforce the site Environment Health and Safety program across data center operations maintenance activities and contractor works.
  • Administer the Permit to Work (PTW) system and ensure that permits are properly prepared , reviewed , approved , issued , monitored , suspended and closed.
  • Verify Permit to Work conditions at the work location before activities begin and during work execution.
  • Enforce the Lockout Tagout (LOTO) program and verify that required isolations are correctly applied before work starts.
  • Confirm that employees and contractors comply with approved isolation safety and work-control procedures.
  • Conduct review and maintain risk assessments for operational maintenance and contractor activities.
  • Prepare and review Job Safety Analyses JSAs for planned and non-routine activities.
  • Ensure that identified hazards control measures responsibilities and emergency requirements are clearly communicated before work begins.
  • Coordinate emergency-response arrangements and maintain the readiness of emergency equipment.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of emergency-response plans and site emergency procedures.
  • Plan coordinate and conduct fire and life-safety mock drills.
  • Record drill attendance observations outcomes lessons learned and corrective actions.
  • Follow up on identified emergency-readiness gaps until closure.
  • Manage contractor safety requirements throughout contractor activities at the data center.
  • Deliver or coordinate contractor safety inductions before contractors begin work.
  • Conduct contractor supervision spot checks and verify compliance with site safety requirements.
  • Record report and follow up on contractor safety violations and unsafe practices.
  • Stop or escalate unsafe work in accordance with approved site procedures.
  • Lead or support investigations of incidents injuries near misses unsafe conditions and environmental events.
  • Perform root cause analysis and identify appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain an action tracker and follow up with responsible parties until corrective actions are completed.
  • Monitor environmental compliance relating to waste management chemical handling and fuel handling.
  • Verify that waste chemicals and fuels are stored handled labelled and managed according to approved requirements.
  • Conduct scheduled workplace safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions unsafe acts and non-compliance.
  • Conduct internal HSE audits according to the approved schedule.
  • Coordinate external safety and environmental audits and support auditors with required records and evidence.
  • Maintain the site in a state of continuous audit readiness.
  • Prepare audit documentation registers reports records and corrective-action evidence.
  • Conduct scheduled toolbox talks and safety-awareness sessions.
  • Deliver safety training to employees and contractors based on operational needs and identified risks.
  • Maintain accurate training attendance records competency records and related documentation.
  • Maintain site EHS statistics reports registers and performance records.
  • Prepare periodic EHS reports for site management and customers.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to Permits to Work LOTO activities Risk assessments Job Safety Analyses Inspections Audits Toolbox talks Safety training Mock drills Incidents and near misses Corrective actions Contractor violations Waste chemical and fuel handling Emergency equipment readiness.
  • Escalate serious safety risks environmental concerns incidents and repeated violations to site management according to the approved escalation process.
  • Support site management in improving EHS awareness compliance and operational safety performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor s degree or Diploma in Safety, Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in an EHS or HSE role.
  • Experience in critical facilities, construction, industrial facilities, or similarly high-risk operational environments is preferred.
  • Practical experience administering Permit to Work systems.
  • Practical knowledge of Lockout/Tagout requirements and isolation verification.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and Job Safety Analyses.
  • Experience coordinating emergency response and fire and life-safety drills.
  • Experience managing contractor safety, site inductions, inspections, and violation reporting.
  • Experience investigating incidents, performing root cause analysis, and tracking corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of environmental controls relating to waste, chemical, and fuel handling.
  • Experience preparing for and supporting internal and external audits.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong report-writing, documentation, and record-keeping skills.
Required Certifications
  • NEBOSH International General Certificate
  • IGC IOSH certification
  • Awareness or training in the following standards is considered an advantage: ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
