Job summary

Leonardo S.p.A. in Italy is seeking a Senior Vendor/Delivery Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of vendor-provided products and services, ensuring they meet scope, timelines, roadmaps and quality standards while driving value for money.

The role is based in Rome with a mandatory secondment of at least two years to Reading, UK. It requires strong governance, contract and SLA management, cross‑functional collaboration, and the ability to balance short‑term delivery with long‑term vendor

Qualifications

• At least 5 years in vendor or delivery management within complex, regulated environments.
• Degree in engineering, business management, supply chain or related technical discipline.
• Proven experience in contract management, SLA enforcement and vendor performance monitoring.
• Strong understanding of vendor governance frameworks, compliance requirements, and risk management practices.
• Experience managing multiple vendors and system integrators across complex delivery landscapes.
• Knowledge of cost optimization strategies and ability to ensure value for money in vendor engagements.
• Experience supporting toolset selection and technology evaluations in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities while maintaining delivery focus.
• Strong delivery mindset with experience in waterfall, agile, or hybrid delivery models.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate delivery activities across vendors and internal teams with clear ownership.
• Monitor vendor performance, risks, dependencies, and escalation of issues proactively.
• Drive resolution of delivery-related incidents and implement continuous improvement measures.
• Balance short-term delivery pressures with long-term vendor strategy and cost optimization objectives.
