Job summary

Agilent Technologies in Italy is seeking a Mechanical/Aerospace Engineer to join the Vacuum Technologies R&D team. You will design and verify dry scroll and rotary vane vacuum pumps, focusing on structural and rotodynamic analysis, and validating performance through experiments.

You will work with design, manufacturing, testing and product management to develop components and assemblies, reduce noise and vibration, and drive product improvements across the full development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
• Typically 4+ years of relevant experience in mechanical product development, analysis or validation engineering.
• Experience with rotating machinery or electromechanical systems.
• Strong knowledge of structural analysis and FEA.
• Proficiency with CAD software and structural simulation tools; ANSYS experience preferred.
• Knowledge of rotordynamics and vibration analysis.
• Experience with experimental testing and validation.
• Familiarity with test instrumentation and data acquisition.
• Ability to interpret test data and correlate with models.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; able to work in an international environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for scroll and rotary vane vacuum pumps.
• Perform structural analyses using FEA to evaluate strength, stiffness, fatigue life, and reliability.
• Conduct rotodynamic analyses to assess vibration, critical speeds, and dynamics, aiming to reduce noise and vibration.
• Plan, execute, and analyze experimental validation to correlate simulation results with tests.
• Support noise and vibration investigations through data acquisition and analysis.
• Develop test plans, analyze results, and generate technical reports and recommendations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and drive product improvements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of analytical methodologies and testing capabilities.
• Support root cause investigations related to field and manufacturing issues.
