Baker Hughes in Firenze, Italy seeks a Systems Engineer for Upgrades (PSE) to define system architecture and integrate new designs with existing configurations at site. You will drive efficiency, life extension, and meet contract milestones.

The role requires advanced degrees in mechanical/energy fields, proficiency with Matlab/Simulink, FlowMaster and HYSYS, and at least 5 years in O&G or energy sectors, with fluency in English and Italian.

Competenze

• Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, Aeronautical or equivalent.
• Knowledge of structural and fluid computational analysis tools.
• 5 years of experience in O&G engineering or energy environments.

Mansioni

• Oversee system design for Upgrades solutions (auxiliaries, lube oil, hydraulics, control oil, water cooling, fuel gas, etc.).
• Attend site surveys to define new supply and integrate into existing plants; reverse engineering mindset.
• Prepare technical documentation per OTR/NPD programs and schedules.
• Conduct HAZOP, SIL, Hazid and LOPA reviews.
• Develop predictive designs using Matlab/Simulink, FlowMaster, HYSYS to foresee transient behavior and high-level control logic.

As UPG (Upgrades) PSE (Packages and Systems Engineering) Systems Engineer, you will oversee system definition (P&AID) and process integration for all the Upgrades solutions related with the legacy products (Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Centrifugal Compressors and Turboexpanders) required by the BH Service organization, as well as for the new emerging Climate Technology Solutions.

You will integrate new design with actual configuration at site, with the aim of efficiency and availability improvement and life extension of existing machines. You will cover all the milestones based on customers’ contracts or foreseen by a new product development program: basic and detailed design development, verification phases, procurement goals, testing/validation accomplishments up to the site installation support.

As a System Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Being in charge for the system design of auxiliaries for all the Upgrades solutions (such as: lube oil, hydraulic oil, control oil, water cooling, fuel gas, liquid fuel, seal gas, ventilation, gas detection, fire protection systems…) in terms of process definition, items and instrumentation selections and installation
• Attending to site surveys to define new supply and integrate it in existing plant; reverse engineering mind-set is necessary;
• Being in charge of the technical documentation with regards to quality and time schedule issuing as per OTR jobs or NPD programs needs;
• Conducting and successfully complete HAZOP meetings, SIL, Hazid and LOPA reviews;
• Developing predictive system design through modeling and numerical automation (Matlab/Simulink, FlowMaster, Hysis) to foresee transient behaviors and define high level control logic;
• Executing the design, analysis or evaluation of assigned projects using engineering practices adhering to business standards, practices, procedures and product/program requirements.
• Interacting with multiple internal interfaces such as ITO Team, Project Engineering, Project Manager, Other disciplines’ Design Engineers, Testing cell, Procurement dept., Quality Org., Manufacturing dept. and Service business;
• Interacting with several external interfaces like Customers and Suppliers demonstrating teamwork attitudes to maximize proficiency;
• Providing technical leadership to activities related with the assigned project and coordinate/control the activities performed by external engineering; being also responsible for engineering hour’s budget management maximizing both internal/external productivity;
• Ensuring and inspiring compliance to BH values, promote Cultural transformation and diversity, IP preservation and HSE culture;

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, Aeronautical or equivalent;
• Knowledge of structural and fluid computational analysis commercial tools;
• 5 years of experience in O&G engineering environment or other Energy oriented realities.
• Good problem-solving, process improvement and analytical skills along with interpersonal skill;
• Good communication skills with fluency in verbal and written English as well as Italian;
• Knowledge of structural and fluid computational analysis (commercial tools) is desired;
• Ability to drive cultural change within the Organization, with open mind and technical acumen;
• Six Sigma or Green Belt Certification and Root Cause Analysis experience are a plus.

The initial pay range for this position will be EUR 43,600 To 70,000.

“The provisions of Contratto Collettivo Industria Metalmeccanica e della installazione di impianti will be applied to this position. Section VI – Titolo IV of that collective bargaining agreement relates to pay”.
