New Gold is seeking an Underground Safety Advisor to promote and implement health and safety programs at the mine site, working 12-hour days on a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation. Reports to Safety Superintendent.

The role focuses on developing procedures, risk assessments, incident investigations, toolbox talks, and ensuring alignment with Contractor Safety Program, while supporting underground operations and Mine Rescue requirements.

Competenze

• 3–5 years of related health and safety experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants as they pertain to underground mining.
• Experience in a recognized Mine Rescue program preferred.
• Train-the-Trainer certification and/or adult training accreditation will be considered an asset.

About The Role

Position Overview

Working closely with Underground Operations, the role of Underground Safety Advisor is to promote, coordinate, and implement activities to maintain and improve high levels of health and safety in the underground setting. The incumbent will develop and implement programs and activities necessary to prevent incidents that may result in personal injury or property damage, oversee and align with underground Contractor Safety Departments and support industrial hygiene management including associated testing. This position is based full-time at the Mine Site and consists of 12 hour days on a 7 Days On, 7 Days Off rotation.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

• College or Technical diploma in a related field is an asset
• CSRP or equivalent is an asset
• Operational experience in the UG mining field
• 3 - 5 years of related health and safety experience
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants as they pertain to underground mining
• Experience in a recognized Mine Rescue program preferred
• Strong organization skills with the ability to plan and schedule programs and activities
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to function with all levels of the organization with multiple internal and external stakeholders
• Train-the-Trainer certification and/or adult training accreditation will be considered an asset

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position will be between $100,000.00 - $120,000.00.
