New Gold is seeking an Underground Safety Advisor to promote and implement health and safety programs at the mine site, working 12-hour days on a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation. Reports to Safety Superintendent.

The role focuses on developing procedures, risk assessments, incident investigations, toolbox talks, and ensuring alignment with Contractor Safety Program, while supporting underground operations and Mine Rescue requirements.

Competenze

• 3–5 years of related health and safety experience.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants as they pertain to underground mining.
• Experience in a recognized Mine Rescue program preferred.
• Train-the-Trainer certification and/or adult training accreditation will be considered an asset.

Mansioni

• Develop, implement and convey health and safety procedures and assist Mine Operations on SOP development.
• Develop underground programs and procedures and participate in risk assessments.
• Work with other site operations to determine current safety issues.
• Respond to queries and provide information to all employees and safety committees.
• Assist in the management of complex health and safety issues relating to the underground environment.
• Participate and/or lead incident/accident investigations.
• Implement activities for employee health and safety.
• Participate in toolbox talks of departments.
• Develop toolbox topics
• Ensure the effective implementation of all health and safety related activities.
• Maintain alignment with Contractor Safety Program
• Adhere to policies and procedures related to health and safety and follow established procedures and quality standards.
• Prepare reports and complete required documentation related to health and safety.
• Ensure required reference material is current and consistent with regulations and policies.
• Provide technical H&S assistance with Underground Capital and Construction-based projects related to health and safety.
• Assist ERT Coordinator with compliance with Ontario Mine Rescue requirements.
