Wood is seeking an Underground Designer in the Milano Corsico area to support underground and area finishing design for complex plants in chemical, petrochemical, and energy sectors. The role combines 3D modelling and 2D drafting with client interaction and site visits.

The position offers hybrid work, with up to two days remote per week, and a competitive package aligned with CCNL in Italy.

Competenze

• Fluent Italian and strong English communication required.
• Educational background in Civil Engineering or technical diploma.
• Fresh graduates or 1–3 years’ experience in a similar role welcome.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and meet deadlines.

Mansioni

• Design underground services in 3D (Smart 3D, E3D) and 2D (AutoCAD/MicroStation).
• Prepare drainage calculations and installation drawings.
• Develop overall underground layouts based on data from disciplines and site surveys.
• Review and update documents with client comments during design and construction phases.
• Ensure documents meet project procedures and quality standards.
• Check drawings from third parties and ensure quantities are accurate.

Wood is recruiting for an Underground Designer to join its Projects business line focusing on engineering, procurement and construction of complex plants in the Chemical, Petrochemical and Energy industries. The position will be based in Corsico (Milan) office, with the possibility to work from home up to two days per week.

The Role

You will support the design and development of underground and area finishing documents under the guidance of senior engineers and designers. The role involves the preparation of drainage system calculations, technical drawings for underground services, overall scope layout, installation drawings, area finishings, 3D models and related quantities interacting with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high quality technical solutions. During projects development, you’ll attend 3D model review and will implement any Client’s comments in the design. During construction you’ll be involved to prepare updated or new documents and for site visits.

Responsibilities

The key objectives for this role are:

• Executing underground services design in accordance with the applicable laws and standards requirements regarding Health, Safety and Environment. These activities shall be performed in 3D environment (Smart 3D, E3D) and 2D tools (Autocad or Microstation)
• Executing the assigned design activities in accordance with job requirements and time schedule following the instructions given by the Civil / Structural project leader
• Preparation and check of drainage calculations
• Preparation of overall underground services layout and installation drawings based on data received from the other disciplines or based on site survey information where needed
• Checking of the drawings provided by third parties
• Guarantee high quality of the documents and compliance with Project and Company procedures and standards
• Review and check of the design in 3D engineering environments
• Check of the designed quantities

Compensation and compliance:

Contract & Classification

• Contract type: Permanent
• Job Classification level: Impiegato, consistent with role requirements and applicable CCNL

Compensation

• Gross Annual Salary: the initial gross annual salary will be € 32,604.60, paid in 14 instalments
• The compensation package will include applicable CCNL elements and company benefits
• Variable pay and additional benefits will be detailed during the selection process
