Job summary

Four Seasons Naples Beach Club seeks a Staff Accountant to support the Assistant Director of Finance in maintaining the general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations for a luxury resort.

You will oversee payroll, accounts payable, and general cashiering while collaborating with department heads and Home Office to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• College education or equivalent experience is required.
• Two to five years of experience with a Finance Department, preferably within a hotel.
• Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and corporate policies.

Responsibilities

• Supervise areas within the Finance Department under the direction of the Assistant Director of Finance, including payroll, accounts payable, and general cashiering.
• Maintain harmonious and professional relationships with all departments and Home Office.
• Assist with maintaining internal controls to safeguard assets and resources of the hotel.
• Direct and supervise payroll, accounts payable, and cashiering activities as directed.
• Assist in development of Finance Department staff for future growth.
• Forecasting/Budgeting support for Department Heads and labor budgets.
• Ensure income is properly recorded and Daily Business Reports are generated.
• Meet with Department Heads to establish labor standards and review labor variances.

About the role:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting the Assistant Director of Finance, Residential in maintaining the general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations.

What you will do:

• Supervise areas within the Finance Department under the direction of the Assistant Director of Finance, including payroll, accounts payable, and general cashiering in accordance with all related local and corporate policies and procedures.
• Maintain harmonious and professional relationship with all departments and Home Office.
• Assist Assistant Director of Finance with maintaining the effectiveness of internal controls to safeguard the assets and resources of the hotel.
• Actively support other department managers with matters dealing with labor standards, payroll, and other issues that may arise.
• Direct and supervise the efforts, quality, and timeliness of all aspects of payroll, accounts payable, and general cashiering or other areas as directed by the Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance
• Assist with the development of the Finance Department staff to aid the future growth of the company.
• Assist in other areas of the accounting office as needed.
• Assist the Assistant Director of Finance in Forecasting/Budgeting and assist the Department Heads in producing their annual labor budgets
• Ensure that income is properly recorded and an accurate and timely Daily Business Report is generated.
• Have the ability to direct the efforts, quality and timeliness of all aspects of the payroll, general ledger, accounts payable and general cashiering.
• Meet with Division and Department Heads and observe the actual work being performed in each department to establish labor standards for all job categories within the hotel; review each department at least twice per year to determine the adequacy of their labor standards, propose changes when necessary and implement with proper approval.
• Review daily/weekly labor report and explain the major variances to established labor standards.
• Assist Department Heads and Division Heads in researching any discrepancies or problems highlighted by the daily, weekly and monthly labor productivity reports

What you bring:

• College education or equivalent experience is required.
• Two (2) to five (5) years of experience with a Finance Department, preferably within a hotel.
• Require a working technical knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and all corporate policies and procedures.
• Require knowledge of and the ability to operate computer equipment and excellent Excel and Computer Skills. Sun, iScala and Opera Systems knowledge would be ideal and greatly valued.
• Strategic, analytical and have solid business acumen.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Proven leadership skills in a hotel environment.
• Requires a working knowledge of division operations as well as Four Seasons cultural and core standards, policies, and standard operating procedures.
