Job summary

Buildo is seeking a Software Engineer in Lombardy with a strong interest in AI to build exceptional web applications and tools. You will work with a vibrant team focusing on quality and continuous improvement, handling projects end-to-end from scoping to delivery.

Ideal candidates are fluent in Italian and proficient in English, with hands-on experience in TypeScript, React.js, Node.js, Python and Generative AI tooling.

Qualifications

• Passionate Software Engineer with a strong interest in AI.
• Experience on AI projects with LLMs, RAG or fine-tuning is a plus.
• Proactive and autonomous, capable of owning small-scale projects end-to-end.
• Comfortable engaging with clients to translate needs into product requirements.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive small-scale AI/software projects end-to-end from scoping to delivery.
• Collaborate with designers, engineers and PMs to translate client needs into software and AI features.
• Design secure systems and advocate for UX quality in client products and internal tools.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to assist us in building exceptional web applications and tools.

Who you are

• You are a passionate Software Engineer with a strong interest in AI, responsible for developing web applications using technologies such as TypeScript, React.js, Node.js, Python, and Generative AI tooling. Your primary focus is building great software; your AI knowledge is a key differentiator that sets you apart.
• You have solid experience working on one or more projects in the AI field, with a good understanding of large language models, LLM tooling, and evaluation techniques. Experience with different model providers, techniques such as RAG and fine-tuning are a plus.
• You are proactive and autonomous, with the seniority to own and drive small-scale projects end-to-end — from scoping to delivery — with minimal supervision. You are comfortable making decisions independently, moving fast, and adapting when things change. You thrive in a startup-like environment where ownership and initiative matter as much as technical skills.
• You are comfortable engaging with clients and prospects — you understand their business needs, translate them into concrete product requirements, and can hold a meaningful conversation about software architecture and AI-related topics: explaining concepts clearly, discussing possibilities and limitations, and turning technical topics into actionable outcomes.
• You are great at working together with a team of designers, software engineers, and project managers to challenge and comprehend product needs from a business perspective.
• You are a fan of good UX, whether it's for your client's products or for tools used by your colleagues. You always aim for perfection and find the right balance between design and implementation.
• You are keen to design secure systems as it is a deliberate and integral part of the entire software design and development process.
• You are curious and have a lot of interests and experiences you enjoy sharing with your co-workers.
• You speak Italian fluently and English proficiently.
