Swisslog Healthcare is seeking a Software Automation Engineer to advance automation solutions for hospital workflows and medication management. You will translate requirements into reliable automation software, contribute to system architecture, and prepare functional specifications and acceptance criteria for projects.

The role involves designing, testing, and documenting complex automated control systems with a focus on real-time performance and motion control. English proficiency is required.

Competenze

• Minimum ~5 years in automation industry.
• Strong PLC programming skills, preferably Structured Text.
• Solid knowledge of automation systems architecture and real-time concepts.
• Experience with commissioning and testing of automated control systems.
• Knowledge of motion control systems (servos/stepper motors).
• Ability to create functional specifications and test procedures.
• Good knowledge of English.

Responsibilities

Primary goals for this role include:

• Translate requirements into effective automation software solutions
• Contribute to the definition of system architecture and software design
• Prepare functional specifications and acceptance test criteria for project-related systems and equipment
• Participate in design risk assessments and ensure proper documentation (user and maintenance manuals)
• Stay up to date with technologies in automation and robotics

Application Requirements

What you need to succeedTo be successful in the role we are looking for:

• Strong experience in automation engineering
• Approximately 5 years of experience in the automation industry
• Solid knowledge of PLC programming, preferably with Structured Text
• Strong understanding of automation systems architecture, including real-time systems
• Experience with commissioning and testing of automated control systems
• Knowledge of motion control systems (servo motors, stepper motors)
• Experience in designing complex systems involving multiple machines
• Proficiency in Beckhoff / TwinCAT or CODESYS environments
• Good knowledge of electromechanical components and systems
• Ability to create technical documentation, including functional specifications and test procedures
• Good knowledge of English language
