Job summary

Aenova Group's Latina site in Borgo San Michele LT, Italy, is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, implement and continuously improve OT infrastructures for sterile production. You will lead automation projects and collaborate across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality and IT.

Requirements include a degree in Automation/Mechatronics, 3+ years in industrial automation, Siemens TIA Portal and SIMATIC S7-1500 experience, iFIX SCADA, and fluent English.

Qualifications

• Degree in Automation, Electronic, Electrical, Computer or Mechatronics Engineering, or a technical diploma with relevant experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in industrial automation.
• Working knowledge of PLC programming with Siemens TIA Portal and SIMATIC S7-1500.
• Solid knowledge of SCADA systems, particularly iFIX, including configuration and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing automation projects.
• Knowledge of Profinet, Profibus, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC DA/UA.
• Familiarity with Windows servers, virtualization, databases, and OT infrastructures.
• Experience coordinating suppliers and system integrators is a plus.
• Knowledge of FAT, SAT and commissioning.
• Fluency in English.
• Analytical mindset and cross-functional teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and improve automation systems and OT infrastructure across the site.
• Lead automation projects from requirements to start-up with cross-functional teams.
• Prepare specifications, architectures, risk assessments and automation docs.
• Coordinate suppliers and system integrators to ensure technical execution.
• Participate in design reviews, FAT, SAT, commissioning and qualification.
• Manage hardware and software changes per Change Control.
• Support integration of PLC, SCADA, HMI, MES and enterprise systems.
• Contribute to lifecycle management, backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Ensure GMP, Data Integrity and OT cybersecurity compliance with QA/IT.
• Provide troubleshooting and expertise for automation issues.

Your key responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of automation systems and OT infrastructures, supporting automation and digitalization projects across the site.
• Manage automation projects from requirements definition through design, installation, integration and start-up, working closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Validation and IT.
• Prepare and review technical specifications, system architectures, risk assessments and automation documentation.
• Coordinate suppliers, OEMs and system integrators, ensuring effective technical execution of projects.
• Participate in design reviews, FAT, SAT, commissioning and qualification activities.
• Manage hardware and software modifications in accordance with site Change Control processes.
• Support the integration of PLC, SCADA, HMI, MES and enterprise systems.
• Contribute to automation standards, system lifecycle and obsolescence management, as well as backup, restore and disaster recovery strategies.
• Support compliance with GMP, Data Integrity and OT cybersecurity requirements in collaboration with Quality, Validation and IT/OT Security.
• Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex automation issues.

Your profile

• Degree in Automation, Electronic, Electrical, Computer or Mechatronics Engineering, or a technical diploma combined with relevant professional experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in industrial automation.
• Working knowledge of PLC programming with Siemens TIA Portal and SIMATIC S7-1500.
• Solid knowledge of SCADA systems, particularly iFIX, including configuration, development and application troubleshooting.
• Experience in the technical management and delivery of automation projects.
• Good knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, Profibus, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC DA and OPC UA.
• Familiarity with Windows servers, virtualization, databases and OT infrastructures, as well as the ability to work with electrical drawings, P&IDs and automation technical documentation.
• Experience coordinating suppliers and system integratorsis a plus.
• Knowledge of Siemens HMI, Ignition SCADA, MES/historian systems and SQL databases would be a plus.
• Experience in pharmaceutical or other regulated environments, including knowledge of GMP, Data Integrity and 21 CFR Part 11, would be highly valued.
• Knowledge of FAT, SAT and commissioning.
• Qualifications are considered an advantage.
• Fluency in English.
• Analytical mindset, project orientation, autonomy and a collaborative approach when working with cross-functional and international teams.

Annual salary range: € 40.000 - 45.000
