Job summary

Leonardo is seeking a Lead Architect – Security by Design for GCAP HQ with a secondment to Reading, UK. You will embed security into design, govern security requirements, and guide product and delivery teams to ensure compliant, secure architectures across multi-domain projects.

You will drive audits, governance, and continuous improvement in security practices, collaborating with stakeholders and vendors to meet enterprise guardrails and regulatory obligations.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years in defence, aerospace, or highly regulated environments.
• Certification in cybersecurity or security architecture (CISSP, CISM, SABSA, or equivalent).
• Knowledge of NIST cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST SP 800 series).
• Degree in engineering, computer science, cybersecurity, or related technical discipline.
• Security by Design principles and secure architecture frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Define and enforce Security by Design principles across digital solutions and architectures.
• Provide expert consultancy to Product Owners and Delivery Managers on security requirements.
• Conduct security audits and assessments to verify adherence to standards and identify improvements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure security controls are applied across domains and supply chain.
• Support regulatory and audit requirements related to security compliance and risk management.
• Balance delivery needs with long-term security strategy and architectural integrity.
