Danfoss GmbH is seeking a Senior Engineer, Backend to design and implement production-grade backend services powering IoT solutions. You will own end-to-end backend capabilities, from architecture to deployment and production reliability, in a hybrid work setting within Italy.

You will work across teams to translate customer needs into robust technical solutions, build event-driven data flows, and drive system performance and maintainability with modern engineering practices.

As our Senior Engineer, Backend, you’ll play a key role in building the services that power digital and IoT solutions across Danfoss Climate Solutions. Your work will help transform industrial data into reliable, scalable and valuable digital products for our customers.

Working within our Digital Application Solutions team, you’ll combine strong hands‑on backend engineering skills with a product‑focused mindset, owning capabilities from service design and data flows through testing, delivery and production. You’ll have the autonomy to solve complex engineering challenges while continuously improving the quality and reliability of our solutions.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design, build and evolve production‑grade backend services for industrial IoT solutions using Go, MQTT, Kafka and modern distributed‑system patterns
• Own backend capabilities end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to automated testing, deployment, observability and production reliability
• Translate product and customer needs into pragmatic technical solutions, collaborating across engineering teams and service boundaries
• Build and improve event‑driven data flows and integrations that reliably process and expose industrial IoT data
• Drive engineering quality through thoughtful design, code reviews, test automation, secure development practices and CI/CD
• Investigate operational challenges and continuously improve the performance, scalability and maintainability of our backend services

What We're Looking For

• Strong hands‑on experience developing production software in Go within complex, real‑world environments
• Experience designing distributed or IoT backend services, including MQTT; experience with Kafka and Sparkplug B is considered an advantage
• Hands‑on experience with automated testing, CI/CD and containerized environments using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Strong problem‑solving skills and an ownership mindset, with the ability to take solutions from design through deployment and production
• Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, product and technical teams
• Experience with GitOps, TypeScript, React or structured AI‑assisted engineering practices is considered an advantage
