SSE Renewables seeks a Senior Development Project Manager to drive Italy's onshore wind portfolio from permitting to investment readiness. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with authorities and partners, and secure approvals to accelerate delivery of large-scale projects.

You will oversee technical, environmental and financial workstreams, manage complex stakeholder networks, and contribute to portfolio growth through strategic partnerships and acquisitions in Italy.

Base Location:Flexible Italy

Salary: €60,240 - €90,360 depending on experience + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

As Senior Development Project Manager, you'll play a critical role in growing SSE Renewables' onshore portfolio in Italy. We're looking for an experienced renewable energy development leader who has successfully taken utility-scale wind projects through the full development lifecycle, from site identification and land acquisition through permitting, investment approval and delivery readiness.

Leading a portfolio of onshore wind developments, you'll be responsible for progressing projects through key development milestones while leading and developing a high-performing team. You'll work closely with internal specialists, external partners, local stakeholders and regulatory authorities to unlock opportunities, overcome challenges and deliver projects that support Italy's energy transition.

You Will

• Lead the development of multiple utility-scale onshore wind projects across Italy, taking projects from early-stage development through permitting, Ready-to-Build and Final Investment Decision while providing senior leadership across the wider project portfolio.
• Build, lead and develop a high-performing team of project developers, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and professional growth.
• Manage relationships with local authorities, landowners, communities, grid operators, environmental stakeholders and development partners to secure approvals, maintain momentum and successfully navigate complex development challenges.
• Oversee technical, environmental, commercial and financial workstreams, identifying risks early, removing barriers and driving solutions that improve project outcomes, delivery certainty and overall portfolio performance.
• Support the continued growth of SSE Renewables in Italy through acquisitions, joint ventures, development partnerships, business development activities and strategic input into portfolio and investment decisions.

You Have

• A proven track record of developing utility-scale onshore wind projects in Italy and successfully leading projects through permitting, investment approval and key development milestones.
• Deep knowledge of Italian planning, permitting and regulatory frameworks for wind energy developments, together with a strong understanding of the wider Italian energy market and development landscape.
• Extensive experience managing complex stakeholder environments, including local authorities, landowners, communities, consultants, development partners and grid operators.
• Strong commercial and project management capability, including financial planning, risk management, contract management, negotiation and the ability to make sound development and investment recommendations.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with the credibility to lead multidisciplinary teams, influence senior stakeholders, coach others and build trusted relationships across the Italian renewable energy sector.
