RWE Renewables Italia S.r.l. in Rome seeks a senior development professional to support investment decisions and value creation for onshore wind, solar and storage across Italy.

You will work within the Global Project Management team to optimise projects and participate in capital allocation discussions. Responsibilities include building and reviewing financial models, preparing investment papers, and coordinating with Senior GPM and Italy leadership to ensure effective governance.

Competenze

• Master’s degree in engineering, business administration, renewable energy, science, finance, economics or a related discipline.
• Relevant professional experience across renewable energy, investment, transactions, finance, valuation or project management; experience in the Italian market is an advantage.
• Strong analytical skills for quantitative problem-solving, with high attention to detail.
• Fluency in written and spoken Italian and English; other languages are advantageous.

• Support project optimisation activities for onshore wind, solar and storage projects under the guidance of a Senior GPM and in collaboration with other GPM colleagues, helping to identify value-creation opportunities, prepare recommendations, support portfolio steering and contribute to capital allocation discussions.
• Contribute to approval processes and related activities for specific development projects, including drafting approval papers and support for Final Investment Decision preparations under the guidance of the Senior GPM.
• Support Developers in their application of the organisation’s Development Financial Model (DFM), including data input, analysis and interpretation of results.
• Provide operational and analytical support to Developers and project teams for onshore wind, solar and storage projects, including supporting internal investment approval processes and related reporting activities.
• Establish a very good overall understanding of the respective local Development cluster project pipeline and support the Senior GPM in creating reports.
• Develop relationships at interfaces with other departments across OPEA and work closely with the Senior GPM and Development Italy leadership team.
• Support the creation of investment business cases for the OPEA Board, contributing to board-level approval processes.
• Provide advisory support to senior management by bridging Development-centric activities with commercial and financial aspects.

Are you looking to apply your investment, project management, or transaction experience in one of the fastest-growing sectors of the global economy?

Join our international Global Project Management Team and support our activities in Italy across onshore wind, solar and battery storage. Working closely with a Senior GPM, other GPM colleagues, Renewable Developers and investment professionals, you will contribute to project optimisation, investment decisions and value creation across the development portfolio.

This is a unique opportunity to combine financial analysis with strategic decision-making, gain exposure to multi-million-euro investment cases and Board-level approval processes, and contribute directly to the energy transition while developing your expertise within an experienced international team.

Your Tasks

• Support project optimisation activities for onshore wind, solar and storage projects under the guidance of a Senior GPM and in collaboration with other GPM colleagues, helping to identify value-creation opportunities, prepare recommendations, support portfolio steering and contribute to capital allocation discussions, while facilitating knowledge transfer across projects.
• Contribute to approval processes and related activities for specific development projects, including drafting approval papers, support for competitive tenders (Subsidy/PPA) and contributions to Final Investment Decision preparations (including project assumption book preparations) under the guidance of the Senior GPM.
• Support Developers in their application of the organisation’s Development Financial Model (DFM), including data input, analysis and interpretation of results related to project cost, revenue and financial performance. As part of this support, contribute to building, reviewing and challenging financial models and business cases, including analysis of returns, sensitivities, risks and key assumptions.
• Provide operational and analytical support to Developers and project teams for onshore wind, solar and storage projects, including:
  • supporting internal investment approval processes (e.g. FIDs, Devex) and related reporting activities, and contributing to periodic reviews of project and/or country-specific financial assumptions;
  • assisting in the preparation, review and follow-up of project strategy and optimisation plans in collaboration with the Senior GPM;
  • sharing development best practice from across wider European development clusters.
• Establish a very good overall understanding of the respective local Development cluster project pipeline and support the Senior GPM in creating reports in collaboration with the Pipeline & Portfolio Management team.
• Develop relationships at interfaces with other departments across OPEA.
• Work very closely alongside the Senior GPM and Development Italy leadership team.
• Support the creation of investment business cases for the OPEA Board, alongside the Senior GPM, other GPM colleagues and the Development leadership team, as part of the company’s investment approval process and wider governance and steering framework. This will include contributing as part of the team to investment committees, executive leadership and Board-level approval processes, as well as capital allocation discussions.
• Provide advisory support to senior management by bridging Development-centric activities and interests with the commercial and financial aspects of the onshore wind, solar and storage development pipeline, which tend to materialise at late-stage development.
• Establish wind, solar and storage industry knowledge through relationships with suppliers, sharing intelligence on product ranges, pricing and portfolios sufficient to guide optimisation.
• A Master’s degree in engineering, business administration, renewable energy, science, finance, economics or a related discipline.
• Relevant professional experience across renewable energy, investment, transactions, finance, valuation or project management; experience in the Italian market is an advantage.
• Strong analytical skills for quantitative problem-solving, paired with high attention to detail.
• Critical thinking skills to evaluate information.
• A solution-oriented and independent working style.
• Confidence in working under pressure and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent team-player skills, with very good interpersonal and communication capabilities and the ability to adapt to changing environments.
• Fluency in written and spoken Italian and English, with other languages such as German, Spanish, French or Polish being an advantage.
