Job summary

SBM Offshore is seeking a Senior Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of advanced data architectures across the organization. You will align data strategy with business goals, oversee governance, and mentor a team of data professionals in a global setting.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of robust data architectures to support business objectives and IT strategy.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and IT teams to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions.
• Ensure adherence to data architecture best practices, including data modeling, integration, and governance.
• Manage the development and maintenance of data models, data flow diagrams, and metadata definitions.
• Oversee the implementation of data governance policies to ensure data quality, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced data architects and data engineers.
• Forecast man-hours, resources, and delivery dates with project managers and stakeholders.
• Stay updated with latest data architecture trends and apply them to enhance capabilities.
• Facilitate cross‑functional collaboration on data projects and report progress to senior leadership.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Certifications such as TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework), CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional), or AWS Certified Solutions Architect, demonstrating expertise in data architecture, are highly desirable. Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and external vendors. A Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in data architecture, data management, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role. Proven experience in developing and implementing data architecture strategies and frameworks, including data modeling, data integration, and data governance. Strong technical background with hands‑on experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex data infrastructures, including cloud environments, big data platforms, and data warehousing solutions. Demonstrated ability to develop and enforce data architecture standards, guidelines, and best practices to ensure system scalability, reliability, and compliance with industry standards and regulations. Experience with data architecture modeling tools and frameworks such as TOGAF and ArchiMate. Strong understanding of Agile and DevOps methodologies and their application in data architecture. Proven track record of leading cross‑functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders. Strong leadership and team‑building skills, with a passion for developing and mentoring talent. Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
