Jobgether is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer, Core APIs with an SRE focus for a fully remote team based in Italy. You will build and operate highly reliable backend services, define SLOs, and improve observability across the platform.

You will own capacity planning, incident response, and performance tuning while mentoring peers and contributing to engineering standards in a distributed environment.

Competenze

• 5+ years backend software engineering experience, including production systems.
• Experience with formal SRE practices: error budgets, capacity planning, production readiness reviews, or fault-injection and resilience testing.
• Strong hands-on experience with Go and/or Node.js, willingness to learn the other.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems, APIs, microservices, and real-time data-processing services.
• Practical experience running production workloads with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
• Working knowledge of observability platforms such as Datadog.
• Experience in production on-call rotations, incident troubleshooting, post-incident analysis.
• Strong SQL skills with databases like DynamoDB, Redis, or Elasticsearch.
• Familiarity with Git, shell scripting, CI/CD pipelines, and standard software practices.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and performance engineering.
• Excellent English communication in a remote-first environment.
• Ability to work independently and mentor others.
• BS in CS welcome; equivalent experience valued.
• Experience with analytical platforms such as ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Databricks is an advantage.

Mansioni

• Design, develop, and optimize highly performant backend services for real-time data processing and web APIs.
• Define and own SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets for core API services and use reliability data to guide decisions.
• Build and maintain observability through metrics, logging, tracing, dashboards, and alerts.
• Participate in on-call rotations, respond to production incidents, and lead blameless post-incident reviews.
• Automate operational processes to reduce toil and prevent recurring failures.
• Conduct capacity planning, load testing, and performance tuning to scale ahead of demand.
• Investigate production issues by forming hypotheses, testing, and driving improvements.
• Integrate backend components with other services and collaborate across teams to preserve performance and reliability.
• Share best practices and contribute to a reliability-focused culture.
