Job summary

Jobgether partners with a client in Italy to hire a Staff Backend Software Engineer for a distributed transaction platform enabling secure cryptocurrency transfers between institutions worldwide.

You will work primarily with Go and PostgreSQL, shaping core architectural decisions, improving scalability, and ensuring predictable performance as volumes grow. The role includes mentoring engineers and collaborating with product, compliance, and customer-facing teams in a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years backend experience with end-to-end delivery.
• Strong distributed systems design, async processing and fault handling.
• Proficient in Go or ready to ship Go code quickly.
• Deep PostgreSQL knowledge including multi-tenant data management.
• Cloud experience with AWS or GCP and Terraform familiarity.
• Experience using AI coding agents in real development workflows.
• Strong written communication in a remote, async environment.
• Solid security fundamentals for data in transit and at rest.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core components of a distributed transaction platform.
• Ensure data correctness, tenant isolation, and auditability under failures.
• Scale systems as volumes grow while maintaining latency and DB performance.
• Produce design documents and review architecture proposals and code.
• Integrate AI coding agents and ensure production-grade code quality.
• Collaborate with product, compliance, and customer-facing teams.
• Own production systems, including tracing and incident response.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards.
• Participate in on-call rotations for platform reliability.
