Job summary

msg global solutions is hiring an experienced AI engineer to design and deliver production AI on SAP landscapes. You will own architecture, implement agents, and work with enterprise data to build robust, scalable AI solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on coding, integration development, and collaboration with business stakeholders. Fluency in English is required, German is a plus, and the team operates globally.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of production software development, including 2+ years shipping AI/ML or LLM-based systems that real users depend on.
• Hands-on SAP BTP experience, AI Core, Generative AI Hub, CAP, HANA Cloud, and an understanding of S/4HANA data and processes.
• Strong Python, plus enough JavaScript or TypeScript to be effective with CAP and Node-based services.
• Practical RAG and agent engineering: chunking and retrieval strategy, tool and function calling, orchestration, and a sense of how these fail in production.
• Ability to explain technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders in clear language.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship AI solutions on SAP BTP using AI Core, Generative AI Hub and AI Foundation, from proof of concept through to production operation.
• Build custom agents and skills in Joule Studio, and extend standard Joule capabilities where the out-of-the-box scope stops short.
• Implement retrieval-augmented generation over enterprise data using HANA Cloud vector storage, SAP Datasphere / Business Data Cloud and Knowledge Graph grounding.
• Develop the application and integration layer around your models: CAP services, OData APIs and SAP Integration Suite flows.
• Own model selection, prompt design, evaluation and cost/latency tuning — and defend the trade-offs to both engineers and business stakeholders.
• Establish evaluation harnesses, observability and guardrails so agent behavior is measurable rather than anecdotal.
• Work within clean-core and ABAP Cloud constraints, and make the case for the right extension pattern when there is a shortcut on offer.
• Partner with functional consultants and customer stakeholders to turn vague process pain into a scoped, buildable use case.
• Mentor engineers on the team and raise the bar on code quality, testing and delivery practice.

What you will do

You will design and build production AI on top of SAP landscapes: agents, retrieval systems and embedded intelligence that run against real business data and hold up under enterprise governance, not just in a demo.

This is a hands‑on engineering role with architecture ownership: you decide how a use case gets built, and then you build it.

What we are looking for

Requirements

• 5+ years building software in production, including 2+ years shipping AI/ML or LLM‑based systems that real users depend on.
• Hands‑on SAP BTP experience, AI Core, Generative AI Hub, CAP, HANA Cloud, and a working understanding of how S/4HANA data and processes fit together.
• Strong Python, plus enough JavaScript or TypeScript to be effective with CAP and Node‑based services.
• Practical RAG and agent engineering: chunking and retrieval strategy, tool and function calling, orchestration, and a clear sense of how these fail in production.
• Solid grasp of enterprise constraints: authorizations and principal propagation, data residency, auditability and PII handling.
• Ability to work directly with customers or business stakeholders and explain technical decisions without jargon.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.

Nice to have

• ABAP or ABAP Cloud, RAP, CAP and clean‑core extension experience.
• SAP Business Data Cloud, Datasphere or Analytics Cloud.
• Agent governance and lifecycle tooling, for example SAP AI Agent Hub or LeanIX.
• Hyperscaler AI platforms: Azure AI Foundry, AWS Bedrock or Google Vertex AI.
• Industry depth in [insurance / manufacturing / financial services].
• SAP certifications in BTP, AI or development.
• Conference talks, technical writing or open‑source contributions.
