We are recruiting a Senior Accounting Specialist for an international industrial group expanding its operations in Northern Italy.

Based in the Crema area, the position covers the accounting activities of both an established Research & Development center and a new manufacturing facility.

Reporting directly to the Group CFO based abroad, you will become the key accounting reference for the Italian operations, working closely with local management, international Finance colleagues and external tax advisors. Regular communication and reporting in English are integral to the role.

This is a hands-on accounting position in an organization where local processes, systems and ways of working need to be built and formalized. You will personally manage operational accounting activities while establishing the foundations of a reliable local accounting function.

You should be comfortable working independently, without an established local accounting team, and obtaining the information you need directly from operational colleagues.

Your Responsibilities

Operational Accounting & Closing

• Manage day-to-day accounting for the Italian R&D center and manufacturing facility.
• Handle supplier invoices, payments, customer invoicing and related accounting transactions.
• Prepare general ledger entries, accruals, prepayments and account reconciliations.
• Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities.
• Coordinate intercompany transactions and reconciliations with international entities.
• Manage fixed-asset accounting, depreciation and operational expenditure records.
• Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of purchasing, inventory and manufacturing-related transactions.
• Coordinate with external advisors on Italian statutory accounting, VAT and compliance matters.
• Prepare reliable accounting information and reporting for Group Finance.

Building Local Processes & Controls

• Establish practical accounting procedures, workflows, documentation and internal controls.
• Clarify information flows and responsibilities with local operational teams and external advisors.
• Identify missing information, resolve discrepancies and follow through on outstanding issues.
• Work directly with Procurement, Supply Chain and Operations to ensure that physical flows and business transactions are accurately reflected in the accounts.
• Develop processes that are reliable, proportionate and suitable for a growing organization.

ERP Implementation & Integration

• Contribute to the implementation of an Oracle-based accounting environment.
• Help translate Italian accounting and VAT requirements into practical ERP workflows.
• Participate in process mapping, data validation, testing and implementation activities.
• Support the integration of accounting with purchasing, inventory and operational processes.
• Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, improve data quality and strengthen controls.

Your Profile

We are looking for an experienced accounting professional with:

• Previous hands-on accounting experience within a manufacturing company. You should understand how purchasing, goods movements, inventory, fixed assets and production activities connect with accounting records.
• Typically 5–10 years of relevant experience, with the emphasis on practical capability, autonomy and motivation for the role.
• Strong knowledge of Italian accounting requirements and VAT regulations.
• Solid experience in general ledger accounting, AP/AR, reconciliations and closing activities.
• Experience using an ERP or integrated accounting system.
• The ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with external advisors and international Finance colleagues.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to data accuracy.
• Fluent Italian and strong professional English, enabling direct discussions with international Finance leadership.

Experience establishing accounting processes, supporting a new site or contributing to an ERP implementation would be particularly valuable.

Previous experience with Oracle EBS is welcome but not mandatory. Experience with other major ERP systems is also relevant.

Compensation & Location

The position is based in the Crema area, Lombardy, and requires regular on-site presence. Candidates within reasonable commuting distance are particularly welcome.

The proposed fixed annual gross salary (RAL) is around €65,000, depending on experience and suitability for the position.

In line with company policy, the compensation package does not include a company car.
