Job summary

BYD Europe in Lombardia is seeking an accomplished accounting professional to manage general ledger, monthly closings, payroll accounting, and statutory reporting under Italian GAAP (OIC). You will ensure accurate financial information and collaborate closely with local management and corporate HQ.

The role requires Italian and Chinese fluency with strong English, deep ERP/Excel skills, and a proactive approach to internal controls and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field; diploma with experience considered.
• 5+ years in accounting, with GL, closing and statutory reporting.
• Fluency in Italian and Chinese, plus strong English; MS Office and ERP skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger activities including journal entries, accruals and fixed assets.
• Ensure accuracy of accounts payable/receivable and reconcile discrepancies.
• Handle monthly payroll accounting entries, salaries, taxes and related accruals.
• Lead monthly, quarterly and annual closings and provide timely financial reporting.
• Ensure VAT compliance and coordinate with external tax advisors as needed.
• Prepare reconciliations, supporting schedules and reports for local management and HQ.
• Act as point of contact for auditors, tax consultants and stakeholders.
• Identify process improvements to enhance controls and efficiency.
• Collaborate with Accounting Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Role Mission

To ensure accurate, timely and compliant accounting and financial reporting activities, taking ownership of key accounting processes and contributing to monthly, quarterly and annual closings in accordance with Italian GAAP (OIC) and local tax regulations. The role will act as a key point of reference for accounting matters, ensuring the reliability of financial information and supporting effective collaboration between local management and corporate HQ.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, provisions and fixed assets accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, including periodic reconciliations and resolution of discrepancies.
• Manage monthly payroll accounting entries, including salaries, taxes, social security contributions, TFR and related accruals.
• Take an active role in monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in line with corporate deadlines and Italian GAAP (OIC).
• Ensure compliance with Italian VAT requirements, tax regulations and statutory accounting obligations, coordinating with external tax advisors when required.
• Prepare and review accounting reconciliations, supporting schedules, financial reports and documentation for local management and corporate HQ.
• Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, tax consultants and other stakeholders, ensuring accurate and timely provision of financial information.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls and reporting efficiency, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with the Accounting Manager and cross-functional teams to support financial accuracy, compliance and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

• Educational Background: Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field. An Accounting diploma combined with significant relevant experience will also be considered.
• Professional Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting roles, preferably within structured organizations and multinational companies, with exposure to general ledger accounting, financial closing processes, and statutory reporting.
• Accounting & Financial Skills: Strong knowledge of Italian GAAP (OIC) and general accounting principles, with solid experience in general ledger management, reconciliations, accruals, provisions, fixed assets, and payroll-related accounting.
• Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Solid understanding of Italian VAT regulations, statutory accounting obligations, and local tax requirements, with experience in supporting tax compliance activities and external audits.
• Financial Reporting & Analytical Skills: Proven experience in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, financial reporting, and accounting reconciliations, combined with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Digital Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, with good knowledge of ERP and accounting systems and the ability to prepare structured financial reports and analyses.
• Language Skills: Fluency in Chinese and Italian is mandatory, together with a strong command of English.
• Problem-Solving & Prioritization: Ability to identify and resolve accounting discrepancies, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines effectively, demonstrating autonomy, accountability, and a proactive approach.
• Communication & Teamwork: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively across departments, external advisors, and international teams.
