Pillar is hiring a Senior Accountant to build Pillar’s finance team from day one in Milan. You will own the books, ensure accuracy across ledgers, and drive receivables, payables, and VAT in a fast-growing company.

You will work with the CFO and Financial Controller, automate manual tasks, and contribute to Series A readiness and first audit. This is a founding finance role with high autonomy.

Competenze

• 3–5 years of accounting experience in a growing company (startup or scaleup).
• Solid knowledge of Italian GAAP (OIC) and VAT.
• Experience with monthly closes and high transaction volumes.

Mansioni

• Handle day‑to‑day accounting: journal entries, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, payroll entries.
• Prepare close schedules and audit support files.
• Reconcile bank accounts, payment providers, billing and GL monthly.
• Reconcile invoiced revenue with ARR figures from data team.
• Manage accounts receivable with Sales/CS: invoicing checks, collections, credit notes.
• Manage accounts payable: supplier invoices, SDI, approvals, payments.
• Prepare VAT returns and F24 payments with the commercialista.

We are building the financial operating system for construction: bringing AI, automation and modern software to an enormous industry still full of slow, fragmented processes.

We are looking for a Senior Accountant who loves clean books, enjoys knowing every account inside out and wants to help build Pillar’s finance team from the very first day.

The mission

Own Pillar’s books every day: keep the ledgers accurate and reconciled, run receivables, payables and VAT, and give the Financial Controller and the CFO numbers they can trust without a second check.

What you will do

• Own day-to-day accounting: journal entries, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and payroll entries.

• Prepare close schedules and keep supporting files ready for the auditor.

• Reconcile bank accounts, payment providers, billing and the general ledger every month, with no unexplained differences.

• Reconcile invoiced revenue with the ARR figures from our data team.

• Run accounts receivable with Sales and Customer Success: invoicing checks, collections follow-up and credit notes.

• Run accounts payable: supplier invoices, electronic invoicing (SDI), approvals and payment runs.

• Prepare VAT returns, F24 payments and supporting schedules with the commercialista, and automate the manual work you find along the way.

Who we are looking for

Precise, curious people who like it when the numbers add up

• You have 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, in a finance team of a growing company (startup or scaleup).

• You have solid knowledge of Italian GAAP (OIC), VAT and electronic invoicing.

• You have run monthly closes and reconciliations at high transaction volumes.

• You are precise and organised, and you stay calm with deadlines.

• You use Excel or Google Sheets every day for reconciliations and reporting.

• You prefer fixing a process to working around it, and you like automating repetitive work.

• You enjoy working with other teams and explaining numbers in simple words.

• You are curious about AI and modern tools and happy to use them to work better.

• Nice to have: SaaS or subscription billing, modern accounting software and integrations, audit preparation.
