Job summary

Eutelsat is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, define, coordinate and maintain interfaces of future satellite communication systems built around IRIS². The role covers end-to-end interfaces across user, space, ground, network, and operations domains.

You will translate requirements into verifiable interface specifications, drive convergence on interface patterns, and collaborate with suppliers and SMEs to reduce system complexity.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in end-to-end functional/system architecture or systems engineering for satellite constellations or complex distributed systems.
• Master’s degree in engineering, computer science or related technical discipline.
• Experience with multi-supplier systems and interfaces.
• Fluent English, written to specification standard.
• Experience on space, telecom or defence programmes with formal review lifecycles (SRR/PDR/CDR).
• Understanding of IP networking and higher-layer software communications protocols.
• Ground segment, satellite internet services or NTN experience.
• Transport network, 5G Core or RAN experience.
• Experience with data modelling and schema design.
• Familiarity with model-based systems engineering and architecture-modelling tools.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain the interface register and interface matrix for the end-to-end system.
• Identify applicable standards and reference architectures for each interface.
• Translate functional chains and system requirements into verifiable requirements.
• Define information exchanges across control, user, and management-plane interfaces.
• Establish and maintain a unified system data model and protocol stacks.
• Define interface performance, timing, availability and security per system design.
• Chair and organize interface working groups and track open points.
• Support definition of interface verification methods and acceptance criteria.
