NTT DATA Europe & Latam is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Lead to provide cross-tower leadership across SAP Basis, SAP HANA, OS, networking, and hyperscaler platforms (Azure and AWS) within a 24x7 managed-services environment in Emilia-Romagna.

The role focuses on operational stability, incident containment, technical governance, and escalation coverage, while guiding SAP ABAP/Java landscapes, transports, upgrades, and security configurations.

Competenze

• Minimum 8–12 years of SAP Basis experience with strong troubleshooting and operational leadership.
• Deep SAP HANA administration, performance tuning, backup, and HA/DR knowledge.
• Experience with SAP ABAP and Java landscapes across development, test, production.
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure and AWS environments supporting SAP workloads.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Technical Lead to provide cross-tower technical leadership across SAP Basis, SAP HANA, infrastructure, networking, and hyperscaler platforms, including Microsoft Azure and AWS.

The role ensures operational stability, drives the resolution of complex incidents, governs technical standards, and acts as the highest technical escalation point within the assigned shift. One Technical Lead will be assigned to each shift to provide continuous technical governance and escalation coverage within a 24x7 managed-services environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Cross-Tower Technical Leadership
• Act as the primary technical escalation point across SAP Basis, HANA database, operating system, network, infrastructure, and cloud towers.
• Take end-to-end ownership of complex incidents, major P1/P2 incidents, and technical problem-management activities.
• Lead technical bridge calls with customers and vendors, clearly communicating impact, risks, recovery actions, and progress.
• Coordinate cross-functional troubleshooting across SAP stack layers and infrastructure dependencies.
• Drive root-cause analyses and define corrective and preventive improvement plans.
• Make informed technical decisions under pressure during business-critical incidents.

SAP Basis Leadership

• Provide expert guidance for SAP ABAP and Java systems across development, test, training, and production environments.
• Govern transport management, job scheduling, client copies, upgrades, kernel updates, support packages, and patching.
• Oversee SAP Web Dispatcher, SSL and SSO configurations, certificate lifecycles, and trust relationships.
• Ensure SAP landscape performance, availability, and reliability through proactive monitoring and tuning.
• Guide lifecycle activities, including upgrades, migrations, Unicode conversions, system refreshes, and other technical changes.
• Provide architectural and operational guidance for additional SAP components where applicable. SAP HANA Database Oversight:
• Provide technical oversight for SAP HANA architecture, installation, administration, maintenance, and upgrades.
• Guide performance analysis, tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting of SAP HANA environments.
• Oversee backup and recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, replication, and data-integrity strategies.
• Ensure appropriate database security controls, including roles, encryption, auditing, and compliance.
• Support the resolution of complex database incidents and cross-layer performance issues. Cloud, Infrastructure & Networking:
• Provide technical governance for SAP workloads hosted on Azure and AWS, covering compute, storage, networking, and high-availability patterns.
• Guide SAP deployments on hyperscalers in alignment with SAP ECS standards and recommended practices.
• Support troubleshooting involving cloud networking, IAM and security, platform services, and infrastructure dependencies.
• Ensure effective integration between SAP systems and hyperscaler services.
• Apply knowledge of DNS, routing, load balancing, firewall rules, virtualization, and hypervisor layers when assessing SAP availability or performance issues.
• Coordinate connectivity troubleshooting with network and infrastructure teams.

SAP ECS Operations

• Provide technical leadership aligned with SAP Enterprise Cloud Services operational frameworks.
• Support ECS-hosted landscapes and managed-service models for MSM, EOS, and LCO customers.
• Ensure compliance with applicable SAP operational standards, governance requirements, and escalation procedures.
• Coordinate across technical towers to ensure end-to-end service delivery. ITSM, Governance & Continuous Improvement:
• Drive structured incident, problem, change, and escalation processes using ServiceNow and SPC.
• Ensure adherence to SLAs, OLAs, operational KPIs, and technical governance standards.
• Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, operating procedures, and knowledge articles.
• Identify automation, standardization, and operational improvement opportunities.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to L2 and L3 engineers across technical towers.
• Provide complete technical and escalation handovers between shifts.

What You’ll Bring Along

• At least 8–12 years of SAP Basis experience, supported by strong troubleshooting and operational leadership capabilities.
• Strong SAP HANA administration, performance, security, backup, recovery, HA/DR, and replication knowledge.
• Experience supporting SAP ABAP and Java landscapes in complex enterprise environments.
• Exposure to Azure and AWS infrastructure supporting SAP workloads.
• Solid understanding of enterprise networking and infrastructure fundamentals.
• Experience leading complex incidents and major P1/P2 incident resolution.
• Experience working with ServiceNow and SPC workflows.
• Experience working in 24x7 managed-services environments.
• Strong customer communication, stakeholder management, and technical coordination skills.
• Cross-tower systems thinking and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Nice to have: Experience supporting SAP ECS customers or MSM, EOS, and LCO service models.
• Operational or architectural experience with BOBJ, BODS, SAP Cloud Connector, SAP Content Server, or OpenText.
• SAP Basis or SAP HANA certifications.
• Microsoft Azure or AWS certifications.
• ITIL knowledge or certification.
• Automation or scripting experience.
• Willingness and flexibility to work in shifts and act as the designated Technical Lead during the assigned shift.
