Job summary

Mosaico is expanding its platform to natively support embeddings. You will design storage, indexing, and API layers to enable embedding-based search inside mosaicod, with research-oriented users in mind.

The role focuses on building a scalable vector data layer in Rust, integrating with the existing query engine, and contributing to an open-source project under Apache 2.0. Remote work is fully supported with optional office access in Reggio Emilia.

Qualifications

• Deep experience with databases and storage systems.
• Hands-on experience with vector databases or vector search libraries in production.
• Experience designing APIs for researchers and data engineers.
• Strong Rust, or demonstrated ability to switch from a systems language quickly.
• Fluent in English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Design the API surface for embeddings for researchers and platform users.
• Define the storage model for vector data inside mosaicod and how it integrates with the existing data model.
• Design and implement the indexing layer for high-performance similarity search at scale.
• Integrate embedding-based search with the existing sequence, topic, and ontology query engine.
• Contribute to the open-source codebase and participate in technical discussions with the community.
