About Us
Generative Bionics is a deep-tech company building humanoid robot platforms to deploy human centered Physical AI. We design intelligent, capable machines that work alongside people in real-world environments — developed in Genova, Italy.
Role
We are building a software infrastructure team to make our humanoid robot platform reliable, integrated, observable, and deployable as it evolves from research and prototypes into a real product. We are looking for a Robotics Software Engineer to develop the software building blocks that connect the robot’s subsystems and make them work together reliably. You will contribute to the integration of control, sensing, actuation, AI, teleoperation, simulation, tooling, diagnostics, and deployment workflows across our humanoid platform. The role is strongly practical and close to the robot. You will write and maintain production quality software, test it in simulation and on physical systems, diagnose cross-component issues, and collaborate with engineers from different disciplines to turn complex prototypes into dependable capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop, integrate, test, and maintain software components for the humanoid robot platform;
- Build interfaces and tooling that connect robot control, sensors, actuators, perception, AI applications, teleoperation, simulation, and data-collection systems;
- Contribute to reliable configuration, startup, monitoring, logging, and diagnostic workflows for robot software;
- Investigate and resolve integration issues spanning software, networking, electronics, and mechanical subsystems;
- Develop automated tests, simulation-based tests, and validation tools to improve platform reliability and reproducibility;
- Support software releases, deployment, upgrades, and operational validation on laboratory robots and external pilot systems;
- Work closely with Robotics, Controls, AI, Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering teams to define and implement practical technical solutions;
- Produce clear technical documentation and contribute to shared engineering standards and code-review practices;
Requirements
- Solid programming skills in C++ and/or Python and versioning systems like git;
- Experience building, debugging, and maintaining non-trivial software systems;
- Good understanding of software-engineering practices, including version control, testing, debugging, and code review;
- Curiosity, ownership, and willingness to work hands-on with real systems;
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and fast-paced environment;
- Professional proficiency in English;
- Availability to travel nationally and internationally is expected;
- Experience developing software for robotics, automation, embedded devices, industrial machinery, vehicles, medical devices, or other physical products;
- Experience bringing software from development into real-world deployment, including validation, operational support, issue diagnosis, and iterative improvement;
- Familiarity with robotics middleware, communication technologies, and frameworks such as ROS 2, YARP, DDS, gRPC, Zenoh, WebRTC, or equivalent distributed component-based systems;
- Experience with Linux, real-time systems, embedded Linux, device communication, EtherCAT, CAN/CAN-FD, serial protocols, or networked sensors and actuators;
- Experience working directly with robot hardware, laboratory test setups, electronics, motors, encoders, cameras, IMUs, or other mechatronic systems;
- Familiarity with CI/CD, reproducible builds, containers, package management, deployment automation, configuration management, or remote diagnostics;
- Experience with simulation environments, hardware-in-the-loop testing, log analysis, telemetry, or data replay;
- Familiarity with cloud or edge computing, distributed systems, computer vision, AI/ML pipelines, or teleoperation systems;
- Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles for connected products, such as authentication, authorization, secure communication, secrets handling, and secure software updates;
- Contributions to open-source projects, personal robotics projects, or a portfolio showing end-to-end product development;
- Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Automation, Control Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience;
We Offer
- The opportunity to develop the infrastructure behind cutting-edge humanoid robotic systems;
- Direct exposure to the full software and product lifecycle, from early prototypes to reliable deployment on physical robots;
- A stimulating and informal environment alongside highly skilled robotics, AI, electronics, and mechanical engineering teams;
- Hands‑on work on challenging integration problems with direct real‑world impact;
- Concrete opportunities for professional growth;
- Competitive salary and contract commensurate with experience;
