Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for the Protection team in a fully remote role based in Italy/Europe. You will design and implement scalable backend systems for payment dispute management, fraud prevention, and risk automation, shaping architecture and driving reliable, automated solutions.

You will work with risk vendors and PSP integrations, mentor teammates, and contribute to product delivery in a distributed environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience owning backend systems end to end, from architecture to deployment and maintenance.
• Strong design skills for scalable backend architectures in evolving environments.
• Experience with payments, fraud prevention, or risk management is advantageous.
• Experience mentoring engineers and establishing engineering best practices.
• Excellent communication for remote, distributed collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain backend systems supporting protection features.
• Develop automation for payment disputes, notifications, evidence collection, and workflows.
• Integrate with payment service providers and fraud prevention platforms.
• Build a rules engine and signals framework for risk management and automation.
• Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to deliver value.
• Contribute to frontend development when needed to deliver complete features.
• Establish monitoring, testing, and reliability standards.
