Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, seeks an experienced Technical Lead (Ruby on Rails, AI-Native) based in Italy. The role is fully remote with a 50% time commitment, focusing on engineering culture, standards, and mentorship rather than coding volume.

You will guide a distributed team across multiple countries, champion AI-native practices, and ensure high-quality, maintainable systems while promoting strong technical oversight and collaboration across time zones.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software development.
• 6+ years of production Ruby on Rails experience.
• Experience leading/mentoring a small engineering team.
• Strong code-review capabilities and architectural judgment.
• Hands-on experience with AI-native development tools (Cursor, Claude Code).
• Experience working with remote-first, distributed teams.
• Ability to work independently in a part-time arrangement (4–5 hours/day).
• Authorized to work in current country of residence.

Responsibilities

• Establish engineering culture and collaboration norms.
• Set and uphold technical standards for code quality and reliability.
• Lead AI-native development practices and tool adoption.
• Mentor a team of four developers and support their growth.
• Guide architectural and technical decisions for scalable solutions.
• Review AI-assisted workflows to maintain production readiness.
