Job summary

Red Hat, Inc. is seeking an experienced software engineer to work with enterprise customers and consulting teams to modernize and deliver cloud-native applications using Java, microservices, containers, and Kubernetes/OpenShift.

The role emphasizes Generative AI development, AI agents, and on-premises or cloud AI services integration, with a focus on secure DevSecOps and observability throughout the lifecycle. Travel to Italy/EMEA may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional IT experience
• Strong Java development skills with modern application frameworks
• Consolidated experience in cloud-native and containerized apps
• Kubernetes/OpenShift or similar container platforms
• Hands-on Generative and Predictive AI solutions in business contexts
• Git, CI/CD, and GitOps workflows
• Software engineering fundamentals, design patterns, testing and maintainable code
• Familiarity with Python and libraries (PyTorch, NumPy, pandas)
• Understanding of Agile delivery and DevOps/DevSecOps practices
• Experience with AI-assisted software development tools and code review for quality and security

Responsibilities

• Develop and modernize Java applications using microservices, APIs, containers, and Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Support applications modernization toward cloud-native architectures.
• Develop Generative AI applications using LLMs, vector data, AI agents, and tool calling.
• Implement CI/CD and GitOps workflows to automate delivery and deployments.
• Help customers secure their software supply chain by identifying vulnerable dependencies and integrating security remediations.
• Apply observability and secure development practices across the software lifecycle.
• Integrate on-premises models and cloud AI services into enterprise apps.
• Collaborate with senior consultants, architects, and customer teams.
• Be available to work onsite with customers in Italy and across EMEA.
