ABB is seeking an R&D Test Automation Engineer in Italy to validate energy management products through automated testing on real devices and lab setups. You will develop and maintain test automation that links test benches, instruments, and DUTs within Hardware-in-the-Loop environments, using Python and C#/.NET for tooling and DLL integrations.

• Hands-on experience with automated test solutions for product-level validation on real devices and lab setups.
• Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop or similar automated test setups involving real hardware and controlled test conditions.
• Proficiency in Python for test automation and framework development; experience with C#/.NET for tool integration and DLL usage.
• Knowledge of device communication interfaces and protocols such as Modbus, M-Bus, Ethernet, TCP/IP, serial communication.
• Experience with test automation frameworks and tools like pytest, TestStand, Azure DevOps for automated test execution and result management.
• Practical knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, especially power/energy measurement equipment.
• Experience with version control and collaborative development workflows using Git, SVN, or similar tools.

You will work close to real products, support continuous improvement of test reliability and coverage, and grow your expertise in product validation, automation, and integrated test systems within a col-laborative R&D team.
