Energy Dome S.p.A. seeks a Project Development Engineer to lead technical development from concept to Final Investment Decision, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring robust, fully permitted projects ready for EPC execution.

The role spans permitting, procurement, and grid-interconnection activities across international projects. The successful candidate will manage technical risk, define CAPEX and schedules, and oversee Owner's Engineering with external consultants, while liaising

Competenze

• Master's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years in project development, engineering management, EPC contracting, or large infrastructure/energy projects.
• Experience with EPC tendering, contractor selection, and HV substations.
• Familiar with permitting, environmental requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and project management software.

About the Role

We are looking for a Project Development Engineer to join our growing Project Development & Construction team. The Project Development Engineer will be responsible for leading and coordinating all technical development activities from project inception through Final Investment Decision (FID), ensuring that projects are technically optimized, commercially robust, fully permitted, and ready for execution.

The role acts as the technical focal point during the development phase, managing multidisciplinary engineering activities, permitting support, EPC engagement and tendering processes, grid connection development, and High Voltage Substation procurement and contractor selection.

The Project Development Engineer will operate within a multidisciplinary and international team, supporting projects across multiple geographies and technologies, and ensuring alignment between technical, commercial, regulatory, and execution requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Accountable for the technical development of projects from concept design through investment approval and EPC award.
• Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary engineering activities, including civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, and grid connection engineering.
• Conduct technical risk assessments and maintain project risk registers throughout the development phase.
• Define and Validate CAPEX, project schedules, and technical assumptions supporting project business cases.
• Support permitting activities by coordinating engineering inputs and technical documentation required for approvals.
• Lead Owner's Engineering activities and coordinate external engineering consultants.
• Develop EPC contracting strategies and technical bid packages.
• Manage EPC tendering processes, including contractor prequalification, technical evaluations, clarifications, and recommendation for award.
• Lead technical negotiations with EPC contractors in coordination with Procurement, Legal, and Engineering teams.
• Coordinate grid connection development activities with utilities, TSOs, DSOs, and regulatory authorities.
• Manage the development, tendering, technical evaluation, and contractor selection process for High Voltage Substations and grid interconnection facilities.
• Evaluate EPC and HV contractor proposals considering technical compliance, cost, schedule, operability, and project risks.
• Ensure alignment between engineering deliverables, permitting requirements, and execution strategies.
• Support project financing activities by providing technical inputs for lenders, investors, and independent engineers.
• Prepare technical presentations and documentation required for internal governance, investment committees, and Board approvals.
• Ensure an effective handover of all technical documentation, contracts, assumptions, risks, and engineering deliverables to the Project Management and execution teams at project start.
• Support Project Managers during contract execution with technical clarifications, change requests, and claims related to development assumptions.

Technical Requirements

• Master's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, or Industrial Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in project development, engineering management, EPC contracting, or large infrastructure/energy projects.
• Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering and project development processes.
• Experience managing EPC tendering and contractor selection processes.
• Experience with High Voltage Substations, grid interconnections, and utility interfaces.
• Good understanding of permitting processes, environmental requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
• Familiarity with project scheduling, cost estimation, risk management, and project controls.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and project management software.
• Willingness to travel for project meetings, site assessments, and contractor engagements.
• Proficiency in English and Italian (spoken and written).

Nice to Have

• Experience in renewable energy, energy storage, power generation, or industrial projects.
• Previous experience with international EPC contractors.
• Knowledge of a third language.
• Experience supporting project financing and technical due diligence activities.
