Balchem Corporation seeks a production shift supervisor to assist Operations Managers in safely manufacturing food and feed products aligned with customer quality requirements. You will supervise production workers, oversee labeling and packaging, and ensure schedules and specifications are met.

The role requires 5+ years of manufacturing supervisory experience, strong communication, math and reading skills, and the ability to work a 12-hour compressed schedule.

Competenze

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred and a minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with supervisory experience.
  • Must be responsible; maintain a positive work attitude, safety minded, quality minded, management supportive, and company oriented.
  • Good communication skills, high math and reading skills, high mechanical ability.
  • Able to wear a respirator.
  • Willingness to work a compressed schedule (e.g. 12-hour shifts).
  • Able to stand and walk during 12-hour shifts in varying weather conditions.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.: Pumps, HMI use, valves, reactors, dryers, and other equipment typical in a chemical plant.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Assist Operations Managers in safely manufacturing of food and feed products in line with customer quality requirements. Supervise production workers during shift in manufacturing, labeling and packaging of food and feed products according to production demands/schedules and specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead a safety and quality focused production environment to produce food and feed products that meet customer specifications.
  • Correct any problems that arise and report it to the manager as needed
  • Ability to read and understand a manufacturing formula sheet
  • Responsible for operator accuracy of BPR, paperwork, labeling, tool checklists, kanban, all forms, & record keeping material
  • Supervise the operators, blenders and baggers on your shift, and effectively communicate production turn over
  • Train/supervise production workers in all aspects of the equipment operations
  • Assure that Manufacturing, Training, Cleaning, Safety, Quality, and other procedures are being strictly adhered to
  • Operate mechanical equipment safely and efficiently
  • Continually gain in depth knowledge of facility equipment
  • Correct any problems that arise
  • Keep Management and other supervisors informed of changing conditions
  • Responsible for checking all forms and record keeping material
  • Work with maintenance personnel to address equipment needs and coordinate those needs with production scheduling
  • Involved in troubleshooting situations and development of corrective action plans
  • Provide suggestions for continual improvement, applications of lean processing, and aid in following through and implementation
  • Understand, comply with, and enforce safety regulations
  • Maintain and assist others in OSHA, Kosher, GMP, ISO, LOTO, CSE, and QS plant requirements
  • Maintain operations in such a manner as to continuously produce quality products in a safe and efficient manner
  • Coach employees in a teamwork environment for continuous improvement
  • Perform duties of plant sanitation supervisor
  • Discipline employees when policies are not adhered to (attendance, punctuality, performance, etc.)
  • Responsible for self-involvement, team involvement and execution of tasks relative to achieving annual departmental goals
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred and a minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with supervisory experience
