Descrizione del lavoro

The PhD fellowship will be hosted by Università degli Studi di Firenze (UNIFI) within the Advanced Bioimaging Research center (ABiR) in Florence, Italy, under the SPACE-MEL MSCA Doctoral Network.

The candidate will investigate microenvironmental and sub-clonal heterogeneity in mucosal melanoma using spatial multi-omics and computational analyses, collaborating with international partners and secondments.

Competenze

  • Strong background in biology, biotechnology, molecular biology, cancer biology, pathology, computational biology or related biomedical discipline.
  • Strong interest in melanoma biology, tumour microenvironment, tumour progression, biomarker discovery and translational cancer research.
  • Basic knowledge of histology, pathology, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology and/or omics-based approaches.
  • Interest in spatial biology, single-cell/spatial omics technologies and integration of tissue-based, molecular and clinical data.
  • Basic computational and data-analysis skills, or willingness to develop them; experience with R, Python or bioinformatic workflows would be an advantage.
  • Ability to work with human biological material, biobank resources and associated clinical data with ethics and data protection.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and willingness to follow SOPs and reproducible research practices.
  • Ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary international team.
  • Willingness to travel and relocate temporarily for secondments.
  • Proficiency in English and strong communication skills.
