Extia, a premier IT consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Network Automation Engineer in Milan. You’ll shape core automation strategy, transforming traditional infra into an IaC ecosystem across multiple vendors and security environments.

You will define standards, automate onboarding, and drive real-time validation scripts, collaborating with network and security teams. Extia emphasizes well-being, growth, and a strong European presence.

Competenze

• Proficiency in Python and networking libraries.
• Advanced experience with Ansible and Git; CI/CD tooling.
• Experience with Netconf, Restconf, gNMI/gNOI and vendor REST APIs.
• Strong Linux system administration experience (Red Hat).

Then What

We are looking for a Senior Network Automation Engineer. In this role, you will define and drive the core automation strategy, converting traditional infrastructure into a scalable, automated Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) ecosystem across a multi-vendor network and security environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Define coding standards and maintain Ansible infrastructure (playbooks, roles, plugins) using Netbox as the Source of Truth.
• Design automated workflows for multi-vendor environments (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Fortinet) while coordinating network and security teams.
• Automate device onboarding (switches, firewalls, APs) and implement GitLab pipelines for network changes and automated testing.
• Develop real-time validation scripts (BGP, interface status) and automate Juniper data center fabrics (VXLAN-EVPN architecture).
• Manage Git repositories with strict branching strategies, automate secure backups/failovers, and generate automated topology diagrams and dashboards.

Key Requirements

• Proficiency in Python (networking libraries: Netmiko, NAPALM, PyEZ, Nornir), Bash/Shell scripting, YAML/JSON, Ansible, and Jinja2 templating.
• Advanced experience with Ansible, Git version control, and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
• Netconf, Restconf, gNMI, gNOI, and Vendor-specific REST APIs.
• Strong experience in Linux system administration (Red Hat Linux), including shell scripting, system configuration, performance tuning, and network tool integration.

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of Layer 2/3 protocols, overlay/underlay technologies (VXLAN-EVPN), SNMP, NetFlow/sFlow, and streaming telemetry.
• Grafana, Kibana, Coralogix, Prometheus, PowerBI, JIRA, Netbrain, LogicMonitor, Infoblox.
