We operate across a truly international environment, bringing together talented people from different countries, cultures and areas of expertise. Our teams are united by a commitment to improving patient health and delivering sustainable value across our portfolio. About the Role

We are looking for a scientifically driven and experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join our Medical Affairs team in Italy, with responsibility for the Centre-South territory. Reporting to the Global Head of Medical Affairs, with a dotted line to the General Manager, Southern Europe, you will translate global Medical Affairs strategy into high-quality field execution, delivering objective, non-promotional scientific engagement with healthcare professionals and other relevant external stakeholders.

The role has a primary focus on oncology and oncology supportive care, including priority pre-launch, launch and post-launch assets, with particular relevance to gynaecological oncology. You will develop trusted scientific relationships with oncologists and other specialists, generate actionable medical insights, identify patient-pathway and evidence gaps, and support evidence-generation activities.

You will also contribute to Italian access and launch readiness, working with relevant internal teams to support scientific understanding of AIFA evaluation processes, regional and hospital access decisions, and the needs of patients and healthcare professionals. This is a hands-on, field-based role for someone who combines strong scientific credibility with sound judgement, autonomy and the ability to collaborate effectively across a growing international speciality pharmaceutical business.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted scientific relationships with priority oncology stakeholders across Centre-South Italy, including oncologists, investigators, hospital pharmacists, specialist nurses, pathologists and other relevant healthcare professionals.
  • Deliver high-quality, objective, and balanced scientific exchange on disease areas, clinical evidence, treatment pathways, and the appropriate use of Pharmanovia medicines, while maintaining the non-promotional character of Medical Affairs.
  • Develop and execute a focused territory plan aligned with the global Medical Affairs strategy, prioritising engagement based on scientific relevance, patient need, asset priorities, and local healthcare system requirements.
  • Maintain deep and current expertise in oncology and oncology supportive care, including relevant tumour types, standards of care, biomarkers, diagnostics, clinical guidelines, patient pathways and emerging evidence.
  • Support pre-launch, launch and post-launch Medical Affairs activities for priority assets in Italy, delivering agreed field activities and contributing to scientific and access readiness.
  • Support scientific readiness for AIFA, regional and hospital access processes by providing accurate interpretation of clinical evidence, unmet medical need, patient pathways and treatment impact within agreed cross-functional responsibilities.
  • Develop relationships with relevant national and regional scientific experts, societies, and cooperative groups, including organisations such as AIOM and MITO, as relevant to the Medical Affairs plan.
  • Identify opportunities for evidence generation, including real-world evidence, registries, investigator-initiated research, Phase IV or other post-authorisation studies and appropriate scientific collaborations.
  • Support Clinical Development and Medical Affairs research activities, including investigator and site identification, feasibility assessments, recruitment insights and communication of approved study results.
  • Support congresses, advisory boards, expert consultations, and scientific education, ensuring that activities are scientifically robust, appropriately governed, and aligned with defined Medical Affairs objectives.
  • Support the localisation and delivery of global scientific narratives and approved materials, ensuring scientific accuracy, balance and relevance to Italian clinical practice.
  • Work collaboratively with Market Access/HEOR, Key Account Managers, Commercial, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, Medical Information, and Quality and Compliance, ensuring that medical insights inform broader plans while preserving Medical Affairs' independence.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Italian and European legislation, industry codes and company policies, including Legislative Decree 219/2006, Farmindustria and EFPIA codes, transparency requirements, pharmacovigilance obligations and Medical Affairs procedures.
  • Ensure adverse events, special situations and product complaints are reported promptly through established pharmacovigilance processes, and route unsolicited scientific questions through the appropriate Medical Information channels.
  • Contribute to the wider Medical Affairs organisation by sharing Italian field insights, supporting cross-market projects and congress debriefs, and exchanging best practices with MSL colleagues in Italy, Spain, and Portugal.

Qualifications

  • Typically 4+ years of successful MSL or comparable field Medical Affairs experience within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Direct oncology experience, including field-based scientific engagement with oncology specialists and the ability to credibly discuss complex clinical data.
  • An advanced scientific or clinical qualification in Medicine, Pharmacy/CTF, Biology, Biotechnology or an equivalent life-science discipline, ideally with postgraduate specialisation or a PhD.
  • Fluent Italian and fluent English, with excellent scientific communication and presentation skills.
  • Good understanding of the Italian oncology and healthcare environment, including regional health services, hospital access pathways and relevant healthcare stakeholders.
  • Understanding of Italian pricing, reimbursement and access processes, including AIFA evaluation and regional and hospital access decisions.
