Mechanical Project Designer – Vacuum Degassing Equipment Team
Tenova, a Techint Group company, is a worldwide partner for sustainable, innovative and reliable solutions in the metals industry and through the well‑known TAKRAF and DELKOR brands in the mining industry. We design technologies and develop services that help companies reduce costs, save energy, limit environmental impact and improve working conditions.
Responsibilities
- Design in 2D and 3D format, meeting customer requirements, timing and quality targets, cost optimization and manufacturability.
- Prepare layouts showing installation of equipment in the client’s plant, managing interferences with existing equipment or building constraints.
- Develop all mechanical design aspects of a project; prepare and/or verify basic and detail engineering, both internal and external.
- Estimate weights for structures/equipment during proposal and basic engineering phases to optimize technical design requirements; develop bills of materials.
- Perform basic/detail engineering elaboration using input data from Project Engineer, Mechanical Dept. Manager, Process Engineer, R&D dept. and Proposal dept.
- Manage external engineering studios, ensuring quality, timing and schedule progress.
- Design equipment in compliance with all applicable regulations; define project standard specification in cooperation with the Project Engineer and contract targets.
- Understand, develop and review design of civil works for the installation of the machines.
- Perform on‑site inspections from site surveys to the final "as built" document.
- Convert 2D drawings into 3D models and create and verify drawings and analysis (e.g., FEM).
- Select appropriate manufacturing procedures based on knowledge of key processes (CNC milling, sheet metal bending, laser cutting, welding, etc.).
- Participate in inspections and meetings at suppliers, sites, production, customer and manufacturing premises.
- Generate scope of work specifications defining work included, excluded and battery limits along with technical requirements for each equipment package or component.
- Manage and supervise outsourced tasks.
