Goodman is seeking an experienced Mechanical Package Manager based in Milan to join our expanding Data Centre project team. The role focuses on overseeing the design, installation, and commissioning of critical mechanical systems including HVAC. Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years of experience in data centre development, a proven project delivery record, and strong communication skills. This position offers the opportunity to lead project activities and ensure optimal data centre operations.

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Package Manager (based in Milan) to join our expanding Data Centre project team. The role involves overseeing the design, installation, commissioning, and hand‑over of critical mechanical systems, including HVAC and cooling infrastructure, to ensure they meet project specifications and industry standards for optimal data centre operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overall responsibility for the mechanical package, covering contractor design, procurement, contract governance, pre‑construction, mobilisation and delivery through hand‑over.
  • Lead a safety‑first culture with zero‑accident objectives, working closely with the Project Lead.
  • Review and comment on all design information in collaboration with the engineering team to ensure buildability, commissionability, and compliance with requirements.
  • Identify design optimisation and pre‑fabrication opportunities, and support early development activities such as land, power, and permit acquisition.
  • Support value engineering initiatives and implement them across all projects.
  • Collaborate on procurement strategy, evaluate tender returns, and manage contractor relationships and performance.
  • Conduct robust weekly audits of method statements and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with contract documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain schedules, manage critical path activities, and proactively address delays with the Project Lead.
  • Ensure on‑site work is performed safely; conduct weekly health & safety tours and document findings.
  • Assist with quality audits, commissioning activities, and ensure hand‑over documents meet required standards.
  • Deliver defect‑free hand‑overs, including snag clearance.
  • Contribute to risk management and mitigation planning, providing necessary package data and narratives for reporting.
  • Provide timely and accurate progress and status reporting, and collaborate on continuous improvement of DC project delivery.
Qualifications

  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, with exemplary safety, quality, and sustainability records.
  • Strong leadership and decision‑making skills, with excellent communication abilities.
  • Degree or equivalent in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Applicable Safety for Managers training.
